Red Bull Ring. The DTM title race continues to heat up – and Schubert Motorsport is right in the thick of it, along with BMW M works drivers René Rast and Marco Wittmann (both GER). The highlight of the penultimate race weekend of the season at the Red Bull Ring (AUT) was Saturday's race, where Rast and Wittmann secured a one-two finish with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. In qualifying, Wittmann claimed pole position ahead of Rast. On Sunday, both drivers faced greater challenges, partly due to the success ballast from their one-two finish the day before. Nevertheless, they still have realistic chances of winning the drivers' title at the season finale at Hockenheim (GER). Schubert Motorsport also remains in contention to defend their title in the...

BMW M Motorsport News, 10th September 2025.
Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport: “At the very top of my success list this week is not a race result – as impressive as they were. I am absolutely thrilled that starting from the 2026 season, we will have our own cup class for the BMW M2 Racing in the NLS. This is exactly the kind of application we developed our new entry-level model for. It definitely belongs on the Nordschleife. Now, on to the sporting side: Once again, these were two fantastic weeks for BMW M Motorsport teams and drivers around the world. In the North American SRO racing series, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and BMW M4 GT4 EVO continue to dominate the action. A special highlight is the incredible season that Random Vandals Racing is delivering in...

Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport: "My personal impressions from the intense race weekend of the DTM and the ADAC GT4 Germany, with strong comebacks and a GT4 one-two finish, are still fresh. But no matter where I am on-site, I always keep an eye on the performances of the BMW M Motorsport customer teams worldwide. I’m absolutely thrilled that we celebrated numerous additional victories and podiums with the BMW M4 GT3 and BMW M4 GT4 in Europe and North America. We are now entering the crunch time of the season, and titles will soon be decided. Every single success is all the more valuable. Congratulations to all teams and drivers! Keep it up – the entire BMW M Motorsport family is rooting for you in these...
Hypercar with a new look: BMW M Hybrid V8 receives aerodynamic updates for the 2026 season.

BMW M Motorsport is implementing aerodynamic updates – subject to their final homologation – based on insights gained by engineers during previous race outings. An adjusted splitter optimises airflow, while the BMW kidney grille will be slightly smaller but will retain its unique BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting, making the car an unmistakable highlight in the...
DTM Sachsenring: Impressive comebacks keep René Rast and Marco Wittmann in the title fight.
Sachsenring. The third-to-last race weekend of the DTM season at the Sachsenring (GER) proved to be the anticipated major challenge for Schubert Motorsport and the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. However, both the team and drivers Marco Wittmann and René Rast (both GER) delivered impressive comebacks in both races, collecting valuable points in the title fight. Wittmann finished seventh and fifth, while Rast finished 14th on Saturday and sixth in Sunday’s race. The Saturday race was marked by a heavy rain shower that hit the Sachsenring during the starting grid formation, turning the first half of the race into a water battle. Wittmann drove a flawless race in the #11 Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3 EVO, improving from 12th on the grid to finish seventh on a...

On Sunday, he started from seventh and finished second, completing the double victory for Schubert Motorsport. After a disappointing 14th place on Saturday, Rast seemed to be losing touch in the drivers’ standings. He had actually delivered a spectacular comeback drive from 17th on the grid to...
BMW M Motorsport News, 5th August 2025.
Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport: "Despite the summer break in some racing series, our BMW M Motorsport drivers and teams continue to compete week after week for victories – and in some cases, even for the final push in the title race. For example, Team WRT has put itself in a strong position thanks to a solid weekend in the GT World Challenge Europe at Magny-Cours. It’s always exciting to see how the team manages to get the most out of a race weekend, even under less-than-ideal conditions. That’s how championships are won – hopefully again this season! In North America, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and the BMW M4 GT4 EVO once again made waves last weekend and two weeks prior. I’m happy and proud that the updates to...
BMW NA 50th Anniversary | 50 Stories for 50 Years Chapter 31: “Formula-BMW USA: For the Future of Racing
To compete successfully at the top levels of motorsport, you need more than well-developed machinery. You also need well-developed drivers. When BMW re-entered Formula One in 2000, its need for young talent became acute. Having focused on production-based racing since ending its partnership with Brabham in 1986, BMW Motorsport had no real pipeline for drivers in open-wheel formulae. Although the company had been supplying engines to Germany’s highly-regarded Formula BMW ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil Club) junior series since 1991, it needed a more comprehensive involvement to achieve its driver-development goals. In 2001, BMW Motorsport moved to do exactly that. Taking over the ADAC series altogether, BMW would provide not just...

BMW NA 50th Anniversary | 50 Stories for 50 Years Chapter 28: “Sibling Rivalry: BMW NA Battles BMW Motorsport for the 2001 ALMS Title”.
As anyone with a brother or sister knows, the most intense rivalries are always between siblings. Any perceived advantage can stoke deep resentments, while any perceived disadvantage can provide a powerful motivation for one to surpass the other. In 2001, the sibling rivalry between Munich-based BMW Motorsport and the BMW of North America team fielded by Prototype Technology Group played out on the racetracks of the American Le Mans Series. Fielding the E46 M3 in not-always-equal configurations, the two teams battled not just Porsche but each other for GT-class dominance. In the second half of the 1990s, dominance was the name of the game for BMW NA in the International Motorsport Association’s GT class. Motorsport manager Erik...

Most recently, BMW Italia Ceccato Racing had plenty of reasons to celebrate with a double podium at Mugello. There were also successes in North America and Asia. Once again, it’s impressive to see how well our cars are performing globally. We aim to continue this trend in the second half of the year.” -- Italian GT Championship (11th to 13th July): BMW...
