What I know about it is:
-V12, 7010 ccm
-496 hp / 5500 rpm
-720 Nm / 3900 rpm
-5 spd. automatic
-0-100 kph: ca. 5,2 s
-Vmax. 296-300 kph

I have never heard about this model. :eusa_thin

According to that piece of history in German, the engine displaces 7 liters. I need to do some research on this thing. :eusa_thin

I just read the article again: "von Mercedes aber nie offiziel angeboten wurde..."!! You couldn't buy this car at a dealer...or official!

Yep, but I should have heard about it though!!! :D

Makes me wonder why they didn't just stick in the 7.3-l V12 though. Why put in a 7.0-l V12?

Probably because the 7.3 wasn't available.

On the subject of this engine, the first generation Zonda S actually featured a 7.0 litre, 12 cylinder engine (the specifications of that engine were near indentical to this one).

actually the first gen Zonda S(1999) 7.0L V12 had 550bhp and 750nm

Actually, there were three different varations of the Zonda S.

The '00 Zonda S had a 7.0 litre V12 with 500bhp
The '01 Zonda S had a 7.0 litre V12 with 550bhp
The '02 Zonda S had a 7.3 litre V12 with 555bhp

The '99 Zonda had a 6.0 litre V12 with 400bhp

:t-cheers:

Sort of related. I believe this one is a S73.

This was for sale in Hong Kong.

Terrible.

I always hated the front of that CL generation.

The W140 looked pretty good, but with the CL front...terrible. Terrible.

And who converted this W140 into an estate? :D

There is an article in the magazine "brandeins" about the old W140!! Very funny... I'll scan the article soon (sadly, it is completely in german)

Hey guys, I'm new here, actually I was interested in this car myself since I saw it couple of days ago at a car wash myself and at first I thought the s70 was just a joke long story short I registered just to comment here... one thing led to another and I started talking with the owner, it turns out there were 12 pieces made in total, it doesn't have normal back seats, it has just two, like the front ones, electric of course, and much more gadgets than any of the cars from 90's. This happened in Georgia(country), in the capital Tbilisi to be more precise. The owner refused to tell me for how much he bought it, but from the license plates I could tell, it was imported from U.S(plus it had chrome wheels, I don't think anyone, but americans would have done that). But what he told me was that there was a guy who wanted to buy it real bad, we was offering him 85 thousand dollars but he refused. Sorry for the grammar and structure I'm in a hurry but wanted to give you as much info as I have. Gonna check back in a while and read all of your comments. cheers

Hi, I am new to this forum and joined to follow this post. I have a 1993 S70 AMG W140. You will find the pictures attached. As it has been mentioned the engine is a 7L modified version of the 6L V12 found in 600SEL, the same 7L engine is also found in the 2001 Zonda S. The same V12 engine was later increased to 7.3L, and this was used in the SL73 and the 2002 Zonda S7.3. I guess that through development of the engine they realised that they could reliably increase the capacity to 7.3L. My car was originally supplied by AMG to Japan, and remained there for 34K Km’s. I recently exported the car from Dubai to UK, at 64K Km’s. Its original in all ways! Incredible power and features for a car that is 20years old.
