2016 Hyundai Equus unveiled with minor updates

2016 Hyundai Equus

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the 2016 Equus.

Since an all-new model is in the works, this year's changes are relatively limited and include a hands-free smart trunk on the range-topping Ultimate model. It automatically opens when the driver stands within a few feet of the Equus' trunk for a few seconds while they have the key in their pocket or purse. Hyundai went on to say say their hands-free function is "easier to use than many competitors that require the driver to kick near a sensor below the trunk to activate the hands-free operation."

As a refresher, the Equus features a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 429 bhp (319 kW) and 376 lb-ft (509 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which enables the model to return an EPA-estimated 15 mpg city / 23 mpg highway / 18 mpg combined.

The 2016 Equus Signature will be priced from $61,500 while the range-topping Equus Ultimate starts at $68,750.
