Autobild reports that the successor to the i3 will be called i1 and come in 2022.
- no more expensive carbon or aluminum
- e motor from the Mini E
- lower price and positioning lower than first gen i3
More interesting in what sense? The i3 is a really revolutionary car and the last thing that I would think about it is that it is not interesting. Technically, the new car, if so like described, doesn't posses anything interesting. And the description that it will have the motor from the MINI E is funny, because the MINI E will have the motor (as far as I have read) from the i3That's far more interesting than the compromised i3 POS they sell today.

Interesting that it has 4 propper doors, and isn't compromised by it's structure which I think robs it of interior space. It's also expensive, twinning it with the MINI E will bring the price down.
So after all BMWBlog were correct? This is now disregarded as they have dropped the EV 3er - The new i3. So i3 can essentially remain as the i3.

Doors aside, how does its structure rob interior space? Seemed fairly spacious to me, certainly moreso than I imagine a MINI based car to be.
For it's size I find it very cramped. You can't fit 5 people into it and the boot is tiny.

I'm still not seeing how basing it on a MINI will solve those problems to any useful degree, to be honest.
Furthermore the aperture for the rear doors is narrow making it an ill-suited car if you have children. The door configuration and practicality is as stupid as the previous generation Clubman. I welcome a cheaper i3 with traditional 5 doors.

After someone in the German media I think AMS.
But BMW did have and announced plans for full EV MINI,X3 and 3er initially.
Then decided i4 was all that was needed. I think 3er was sacrificed for the i4 so that they can implement something else within the upper tier segments.
Countryman and Clubman are a lot more spacious than i3.

An electric G20 3er is inevitable. Mark that down. It's coming.
