ABT Gives Audi RS3 Sportback Big Power And Big Wheels

The 493-horsepower super hatch can get to 186 mph (300 kph) on those custom 20-inch wheels.
After working on the Audi RS3 Sedan to give it more power and attitude, ABT Sportsline has now worked its magic on its hatchback counterpart that has gone through a series of upgrades. Starting with the most obvious ones, gone are the standard wheels as the German tuner has decided to go all out by installing a set of large 20-inch alloys finished in black for a stealthy look. You can have these rims either with a matte finish or this shiny coat featuring a glossy appearance. A multitude of other 20-inch wheel designs are available, along with smaller 19-inch sets.

Aside from the new shoes, the super hatch from Ingolstadt has received fender inserts at the front to further denote it’s more than just the usual RS3 Sportback. The back of the car is now home to two pairs of dual exhaust tips featuring a larger diameter granting a better sound thanks to ABT’s new muffler system. These flank a diffuser part of an aerodynamic body kit so subtle that you’d have to be an Audi aficionado to figure out this isn’t the standard model.
While the looks might suggest we are dealing with a fairly regular Audi RS3 Sportback, the real change has occurred underneath the hood where the renowned tuner has dialed the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine to 493 horsepower (368 kilowatts) and 570 Newton-meters (420 pound-feet) of torque. With the ABT Engine Control, intercooler, and exhaust system in place, the car will jump to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.7 seconds and top out at an impressive 186 mph (300 kph).

If you feel like 493 hp is too much to handle, ABT has a lesser package tailored to the RS3 Sportback that only includes the aforementioned Engine Control unit dialing the five-cylinder engine to 453 hp (338 kW), which is still a lot more than the stock 394 hp. Rounding off the list of niceties are the upgrades inside the cabin, such as different types of leather for the upholstery along with carbon fiber accents.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
