Alfa MiTo GTA

Even the standard MiTo is awesome, but this tiny thing starts from 17.000€ here, and it's way beyond affordable!

Have you seen the car Tarek? I went to see it with a friend. I was very curious, since someone in the neighbourhood got one and it's beautiful. So we went to the AR showroom and examined the car. For some time the basic 1.4l with 75hp was availiable here. Basic equipement is very nice, but still you need to get the second version, at least. Very very nice design and finish, but the materials and finish could be a little better for the money you pay. Then we testdrove the car. First of all, it sounds like a broken old truck, it sounds even worse than my clio with the holes in the exhaust! It drives pretty good though, with a sporty handling. That thing with the comfort/sport function is pretty interesting. But i don't think that i'd use the comfort. Gas response and co. are very slow in comfort.

Anyway, good car, but it should cost less!

:t-cheers:

^Yeah i think u are right and the turbo version is a must have IMO too,but same can be said about the MINI too.The S version MUCH better than regular Mini by a mile.

Now i can't wait for the real GTA MiTo due this summer pushing 240bhp:bowdown::D

My only problem with those upscale versions is the costs. I just can't see me spending >30.000€ for a tiny car, no matter the power or the equipment. It is still a small city car. It makes much more sense in spending money on a bigger car, the size of the 156 or bigger.

I am currently thinking of getting the new Golf, but only the Trendline one. It's not worth the extra cost going for the Comfortline/Highline, as i want a car just to do it's job, not serve me as a toy this time...

:t-cheers:

^Yeah i know what u mean but sadly Euro car makers always charge much more money for their performance cars than say the Asian ones. It's fact and u have to deal with it if u want it.

The GTA will be a great little car. I only (still) think that they wanted to make it look a bit too much like the 8C, at least the front. Still very nice though.

Alfa MiTo GTA Concept Officially Revealed

Press Release

A high performance concept of the new Alfa MiTo, the Alfa MiTo GTA, will be starring at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show in early March.
In line with the famous GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerito) signature, (Alleggerito means reduced weight in Italian), the MiTo GTA Concept prioritises weight reduction, and the achievement of an optimum power-to-weight ratio.
Considerable work has gone into lowering the vehicle’s centre of gravity; thus certain components such as the tailgate spoiler, roof and mirror fairings are in carbon-fibre; while aluminium is used extensively in the braking system, suspension, and some parts of the chassis.
Under the bonnet, an exciting new petrol engine, very much in keeping with the pre-requisites of downsizing, environmental awareness, and the offer of high power and efficiency in return for low weight and optimised packaging, powers the new GTA Concept.
Designed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies and exploiting the vast experience gained in the production of Twin Spark and Alfa V6 road and race engines, the compact new petrol engine employs advanced technical solutions including direct injection, dual variable valve timing, state-of-the-art turbocharging and advanced electronic management systems to produce a remarkable 240bhp from just 1742cc.
Under-floor aerodynamics have been a particular concern, while the entire car has been lowered by some 20mm. Front suspension employs new geometry with aluminium leading arms, while the rear suspension has all-new bushings, and the comprehensively revised chassis boasts an ‘active’ suspension system, (advanced damper control), which counteracts the transfer of load under acceleration, stiffening the rear end and maximising traction. The suspension also interacts with the braking system and steering to obtain the most efficient control of vehicle dynamics, while a ‘Sky-Hook’ function ensures an excellent level of passenger comfort under conditions of everyday use.

Attractive, but what's with the high ground clearance?
It only looks like it has high ground-clearance in the side on view, a visual distraction caused by the lack of distinction between the black rocker panel and the dark tarmac in this clearly photoshopped press release picture.
In the frontal 3/4 aspect it appears much lower to the ground.

All these new, affordable Italian cars....too bad this is the wrong time to try introducing them to the American market.

This car is stunning. My goodness...

This is what it is people...

A hot hatch renaissance. When the going gets tough, the hot hatch makes a comeback and gets going. Spot y'all over at the Ford Focus RS thread where history is being made for FWD technology. And, along with the very limited edition R26.R, the hot hatch makes for a compelling performance-car-on-a-budget case.

As for this Mi.To GTA? Let's hope it drives better than the reviews of its lesser sibling have been suggesting. Looks good though...
