Seems like Apple is moving ahead with building its own electric car “Project Titan”, after it had wound down previous efforts with Magna back in 2016, some recent developments:

Recently, there has been a lot of speculation that it will be built in the US by Hyundai/Kia under a contract assembly deal, production beginning 2024/2025:

There has also been a number of reports regarding talent Apple appears to be bringing into the project, such as Porsche's VP of chassis development - Dr. Manfred Harrer. Apple seems to have poached a number of Tesla engineers and designers according to Bloomberg:

Apple has also been testing its autonomous driving tech on public roads for a number of years now, as stated by California's DMV and has made acquisitions relating to the tech.

When there's smoke, there's fire; it'll be interesting to see what will come of all this as it appears to be a renewed focus on the project from Apple. What impact will it have on the industry if it does make it to market

Apple Car will be a Tesla with much better overall quality, this is promising.
It's a big mistake to Take Tesla as a constant. It is improving by daily basis. Soon the quality won't be an issue regardless from which factory the car comes. (Chinese made model 3 has no built quality issues).

If Huyndai will assemble Apple's cars, the skateboard options are two:
1. Huyndai E-GMP platform
2. Canoo's skateboard platform

The latter is a fully rolling chassis that has been crash tested and will have been validated for mass production by the end of this year. This would make it possible for Apple to develop a body on top of it in just 18-24 months.

Huyndai has a huge dilemma here. Either assemble Apple's cars but risk becoming their bitch or walk away but risk watching another manufacturers generate billions in assembly fees/licenses.
