Porsche got beaten. Again.

First it was the Peugeot RCZ R that defeated the Cayman PDK on track and overall as well, now it's the GLA45 that makes the new "sportiest-SUV-ever" Macan Turbo sweat.
With its fantastic cornering ability and great power-to-weight ratio the new AMG is not only 1,6 s seconds faster around the Sachsenring than the Porsche, but it's also only a second behind its donor, the A45 AMG!

As much as I hate the RS Q3, (and Q3 in general), I will never understand the mystery of Audi putting only 310hp in a model and call it "RS". What a ripoff.

Macan for me.

And to think it may be the last Audi offering that magnificent engine.

Hell of an achievement by Merc to best the Macan, didn't expect that. Though technically both this and the Q3 are a size class below the Porsche.

Wow what a surprise result from the GLA45 I didn't expect it to beat the Macan Turbo, it's performance is pretty damn close to the Porsche despite having 40hp less power!

I think weighing 300kg less probably played a large part.;)

I still don't get it that why the Audi RSQ3 has less power. Great times with GPS on this video.

What a BS test. The Macan and GLA don't compare.

GLA is horrible and tiny, Macan is lovely and big......and freaking obese @2000 kg. Hot damn.

They're a class apart in size. Macan should be compared to GLK and it would utterly destroy it.

All things considered the GLA is remarkably light compared to even the similarly sized RSQ3, an amazing job Mercedes have done on this motor, a company which appears to have turned itself around and have the big bull called weight well and truly by the horns and under control.

Somehow i agree with you..i think the Macan is more a GLK/q5 sized car( afaik its based on the Q5 platform)..and not GLA.. but you would be surprised to know that the Macan is not that roomy, its pretty damn tight especially the back seats, go check it out at your dealer, and bring us some pictures of the 918s.

It's sadly not 'my' dealer. I passed it on my way to the Ring the oher day, and it's a good 100 km from where I live :(
I will go again when I have time, I hope later this week.

Somehow GLA45 is doing more damage to the competition than A45 is doing.

What competition? The GLA is a raised hatchback, the only competition it has is the RS Q3.

In today's AutoBild the GLA45 smashed the RS Q3 around Contidrom with a fantastic laptime. :)

I'm generally speaking not a fan of this type of SUV's, but there's something about the Macan which makes me want one...

I don't see how the GLA can even be considered as an SUV, it's barely any higher off the ground than the A Class, the B Class is taller. Too my mind it's a butched up A Class, nothing more. I certainly don't see why the Maccan was in this test, compare it with the SQ5 or X3 35i that would be a valid test.

It's how it's marketed so you have to accept it, what should be done is to include a bit of offroad in these tests then it would show up which is the truest to the term SUV and which is hiding behind the marketing.

Come on Klier don't hit the 'Disagree' button without giving an opinion on why you disagree, these are SUV so they must have some kind of offroad ability otherwise you'd be far better far buying the regular A45 and saving a few pounds/euros/dollars. Porsche understand this which is why their Cayenne and Macan are capable of reasonable offroad duties.
