Not to mention it scores as good as the Benz in the Comfort category. It's not just an average all-rounder, but one that is better or as-good in all critical categories. Impressive.

The 4 is impressive indeed. But I never really considered it because of the B-pillar.

Also, the V8 in the E500 negated almost all of the performance deficits.

Indeed, Mercedes' low-end engines are just not good enough. No cure until 2016.

5.6 secs 0-100 km/h is very fast. I remember the first versions of the E92 335i being similarly quick.

Or even the E63 645i V8 coupe...

Agreed, though I must say that the FL E coupe in the right color with the right rims and the AMG pack can look rather stiking too....it's just so outdated and not worthy of the name...

The new fl E coupe is a underrated car, its really a good looking coupe.

With that said the BMW is to new and up to date for the E to hang with..

I also like the E Coupé.

I've driven 428i with the same specifications shown on the picture above. The car didn't feel like 5.6 seconds car but you can't accuse BMW of having harsh ride anymore. Even with M-package the ride is comfortable.
428i was a pretty good drive too, better than F30. But the thing that impressed me the most with 428i was the engine sound. I didn't miss the sound from 6-cylinders.
