The new 911 Turbo S is the best 911 ever made - it mixes comfort, everyday usability and performance perfectly. With its 0-40 kph time of an unbelieveable 0,9 seconds it is the fastest launching car ever tested by German media. That equals an average longitudinal acceleration of 1,26 G!

The numbers:

0-100 kph in 2,9 s - as fast as the Aventador and one tenth quicker than previous Turbo S.
0-200 kph in 9,6 s - 0,7 s quicker than claimed. Just for comparison: the 620-hp Ruf and TechArt 997 Turbo PDKs time was 9,4 sec.
Braking (100-0 kph) with warm brakes: 31,7 m.

0-200 kph times by AutoZeitung:

8,9 s - Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
8,9 s - McLaren MP4-12C MY2013
9,6 s - Porsche 911 Turbo S (991)
9,7 s - Porsche 911 GT2 RS (997)
9,8 s - Porsche 911 Turbo S (997)
10,0 s - Ferrari 458 Italia
10,4 s - Porsche 911 Turbo PDK (997)

Amazing piece of machinery,is it me or does anyone else agree that this thing would absolutely eat the 458 alive, especially around a track, not to mention they everyday usability of the 911?

I agree with their claim it is the best 911. They got right what the previous 997 Turbo S was missing. Interior sound and handling, as the previous 997 Turbo was known for its sudden oversteer issue and therefore wasn´t king of laptimes.

With the 991 Turbo S, the interior sound is just right, there is even crackling and popping on the overrun and the handling has improved as well, since according to Porsche, the 991 Turbo S is even faster than 991 GT3 on the Nordschleife when wearing semi-slicks as well.

On the other hand, the straight-line speed has not improved much in comparison to 997 Turbo S. I expected a bit more.

As for beating 458 Italia, is it really a success ? To beat a car that was revealed in 2009 ? And actually in the straight-line, the Turbo doesn´t seem to be any faster, apart from the launch.

But all in all, it is simply an amazing package, the 991 Turbo.

^Dede, awesome graphs, especially the G force one. You have one with GTR by any chance :).
Thank you, Sunny. I only have the Sportscars-data for latest GT-R, that's what you see in the graph below. I calculated the G-forces for only 5 speeds for both cars, that's why the graphs are so smooth. As you can see the 991 pulls much stronger above 160 kph, between 160 and 200 kph the GT-R generates an average G of 0,29, while the Porsche makes 0,44!

Also, here's another graph for the new Turbo S :)
