Strange. According to bmw website 118i now produce 184 hp. There is no 120i.

If I am not mistaken, the 118i, makes 184hp from an 1.6l turbo engine, right?

What's the point, then, of a 2.0lt engine, if there is the 1.6lt with the same output?

I know i know. I meant BMW. Even the pressrelase /and when you visit BMW webpage/ 1--series is speaking about 118i with 184 hp.

That 184hp number, though, must not be correct. Only 184hp from a 2.0lt engine, when everyone else is making at least 200?

Ok, this is how it is according to BMW.

118i - 1,6 liters/170hp/250nm@1500-4500 rpm
120i - 2.0 liters/184 hp/270nm@1250nm-4500 rpm

Only 14 extra horsepower if you choose 120i. Previous 118i vs 120i the difference is 27 hp. Not much of difference which is kinda disappointing. I was hoping new 120i would be closer to 200 hp.

BMW puts X1 on hold 'indefinitely' for U.S.

High-demand in Europe and a poor euro-dollar exchange rate still keeping the X1 far from U.S. shores


BMW keeps postponing a date for the U.S.-market entry of the X1 - this time it says "indefinitely".

The reason the X1 is having a hard time getting across the Atlantic is that it has become a victim of its own success. The BMW X1 is one of Europe's top-selling SUVs, which puts constraints on production and supply.

Also, it's a compact SUV with smaller margins for an automaker than larger-sized vehicles and with a continuously poor euro-dollar exchange rate (still holding steady at above 1.40 US for a euro despite the crisis in the EU's monitary union) it makes sense for BMW to postpone a U.S-market entry. The model might sell well, but BMW could find itself losing money on it anyway.

BMW might bring the X1 stateside with the major facelift expected on the model in 2012/2013 but only with a couple of top-of-the-range variants.

For now, though, American X1 fans will just have to wait.

The November issue of Autobild Allrad shows the renderings of the second X1 generation and an X2 proposal .
The Code numbers stated as F48 for X1 (2015) and F47 for X2 (2016), the latter meant to be a two door Coupe like Crossover "à la X6".

I would imagine that design work has commenced on the next generation X1 but not as yet final. The X2 is entirely different to what BMW are actually envisioning. Which is a combination of "X" and "Z" in otherwords a proper concept derived from the original XCoupe Concept from 2001- Over ten years ago.

I am looking at the X2 rendering and seeing something very similar to the BMW 4er front end.

X coupe was strange concept. What design elements are derived from it?

The Coupe shape and outline. It will be a true Coupe and not a lower dynamic sloping roofed SAV.

The X coupe previewed those asymmetrical lines too. Glad BMW decided to drop that idea!!

2013 BMW X1 Facelift Spy Shots

BMW is planning an update for its compact X1 crossover in time for the 2013 model year, a prototype for which has been caught in the wild near the automaker's headquarters in the south of Germany.

The good news is that this ‘updated’ model is the one that’s expected to finally arrive in U.S. showrooms around the end of next year.

The prototype seen here is wearing new bumpers front and rear, as well as updated headlights. More changes to the exterior are expected to be implemented as development progresses.
