Geneva Motor Show 2020

Hitherto the buzz event of each year, this year it seems a be lower profile; be it with the COVID-19 scare, or most niche brands opting to debut new cars at exclusive VIP events instead...

In any case, wanted to open this thread, to discuss and display what we know so far, who is going and all that jazz....Let the discussions commence

I've been every year for nearly 15 years. I'm not even bothering this year. It was pretty dull last year as it was, nevermind with the Corona virus detering people from going.

Corona is going to mess up a lot of high profile events this year.
I'm already scared of E3.

So what new things are we looking at for Geneva? BMW has the i4 concept. MB maybe a preview of the S class?

Motor shows indeed appear to be approaching redundancy.

I think that's crazy and don't understand why. Seeing some car on the internet is completely different than experiencing it on a show. I agree with your sentiment though, shows are on their way out. Such a shame.

+1 , and this was a trend even before the COVID-19 pandemic

Yeah, that has nothing to do with it. And it's not just car shows, other big shows are on their way out as well. Like the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Sony isn't even attending, and they're frickin launching the PS5 this year!

I agree it is incomparable to see them on the Internet, against seeing them live in a magnificent Autoshow, but the gradual disappearance of the passionate (or moderately passionate) public that goes to the shows seems to be the reason, is the same public that weighs the practicality about design and charm, for example of the 3 doors hatch so there will be no more, as there are no coupes and the few that remain (with few exceptions) will be canceled, this generation does not appreciate these things, this lack of supply affects the passionate ones that remain , because there are not many "exciting" things in Autoshows they lose interest in going

Hopefully it is cyclic and everything fits as it should be.

Maybe E-class FL, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Golf GTi and BMW i5??

well. Like the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Sony isn't even attending, and they're frickin launching the PS5 this year!
I sold my PS4 Pro this week and hope that the next gen Xbox and Playstation won't be delayed into 2021 or be in scares supply before Christmas.

:barefoot:

Rundown of the interesting supercars this year.

Another special edition body kit Chiron is guaranteed.

Koenigsegg will be bringing the Jesko 500 and a 2+2, and maybe a customer Regera/Jesko?

McLaren will come out with 765LT and maybe BP-03.

Ferrari will have nothing new. (why bother attending?) Maybe 1% chance for a hardcore 812SF.

Porsche will have a proper Turbo and Turbo S. No nameslapp of turbo on some EV bs.

Czinger will appear with their 3D printed hypercar.

That's about it I think.
Regarding Sony and E3. They haven't been a part of E3 for around 2-3 years now. They are now hosting their own event.

It's really sad to see these big shows die out. I get there are big expenses behind it, but it was great places to meet new people and see new amazing cars in person.

Oh wow....That's some BREAKING NEWS

Just as I thought. All big events are going to be cancelled because of this. Corona is loose and not contained.

-An event with hundreds of attendees from all corners of the world.
-The majority of attendees are warm and heavy nose breathing men.
-The majority of visitors will shake hands, sit in warm car interiors with grease from canapé fingers on every surface.

It would have been a cess pool for spreading the virus.
