Second generation of the BMW M2 is the ultimate embodiment of driving pleasure for the purist.
• New BMW M2, with its unmistakable skillset, follows in the tradition of the BMW 2002 turbo and BMW 1 Series M Coupé. Extremely agile handling and outstanding performance for its segment thanks to superior powertrain and chassis technology adapted from the BMW M3 / BMW M4. As a result, the first step into the world of highperformance sports cars at BMW M GmbH is now even more beguiling. Signature M synthesis of intense motor sport aura and unrestricted everyday usability.
• World premiere of the new BMW M2 is another highlight of the 50- year anniversary celebrations for BMW M GmbH. New model will be built alongside the BMW 2 Series Coupé at the BMW Group’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. Worldwide launch starts in April 2023.
• Athletic looks with exceptionally powerful coupé proportions and hallmark M design features. Vehicle length, width and track width have increased notably compared with the predecessor model, while height has been reduced. New M2 measures 214 millimetres less in length than the BMW M4 Coupé models and has a 110-millimetre shorter wheelbase.
• Expressive exterior design and clear differentiation from the BMW 2 Series Coupé. Large, frameless BMW kidney grille with horizontal bars. Lower air intake in M-typical three-section design with almost rectangular contours. Cleanly designed surfaces at the sides and muscular wheel arches. Powerful rear end with eyecatching spoiler lip on the boot lid and vertically arranged reflectors. Diffuser insert in rear apron has a puristic design; pairs of exhaust tailpipes are positioned a long way in from the outer edges. The new BMW M2. Highlights.
• Choice of two solid and three metallic paint finishes, including the Zandvoort Blue solid and Toronto Red metallic shades that are exclusive to the new BMW M2. Optional M Carbon roof reduces vehicle weight by around six kilograms.
• 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and high-revving character. Maximum output of 338 kW/460 hp eclipses the figures for the base unit in the outgoing model by 66 kW/90 hp. Classical M performance characteristics with instantaneous response and linear power delivery into the upper echelons of the rev range. Peak torque: 550 Nm (405 lb-ft), maximum rev speed: 7,200 rpm.
• Cooling and oil supply systems engineered for extremely dynamic longitudinal and lateral performance on the track. Emotionally rich soundtrack produced by M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps.
• Power relayed to rear wheels as standard via eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Three shift modes, selector lever in latest M design and shift paddles on the steering wheel. Classical performance experience available by opting for the six-speed manual gearbox with Gear Shift Assistant (can be deactivated). Also included as standard: Active M Differential at the rear axle.
• Inimitable and extremely intense M feeling resulting from compact dimensions, a short wheelbase, excellent longitudinal and torsional stiffness helped by M-specific bracing, and the almost perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution. Bespoke chassis setup was fine-tuned on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit and clearly places the emphasis on agility. Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers and M Servotronic steering with variable ratio are standard.
• M Compound brakes with six-piston, fixed-calliper brakes at the front and single-piston, floating-calliper brakes at the rear. Integrated braking system offers two settings for pedal feel and response. M light-alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear are both one inch wider in diameter than the wheels fitted as standard on the BMW M3 and BMW M4 models, and can be combined with track tyres as an option.
• DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system includes M Dynamic Mode and integral wheel slip limitation. Standard-specification M Drive Professional features M Traction Control, allowing intervention by the wheel slip limitation function to be adjusted through ten stages.
• M-specific control/operation concept with Setup button for direct access to the settings for the engine, chassis, steering, braking system and M Traction Control, as well as the Gear Shift Assistant if fitted. Two individually composed variants of the overall setup can be called up with the M buttons on the steering wheel. The M Drift Analyser and M Laptimer are also standard.
• Advanced, driver-centric cockpit design. Latest-generation BMW iDrive based on BMW Operating System 8. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and BMW Curved Display fully digital screen grouping for intuitive, multimodal interaction between driver and vehicle using natural language and touch control. Driving-related information including Shift Lights in new graphical layout on the 12.3-inch information display. M-specific widgets for vehicle setup and tyre condition can be added to the home screen of the 14.9-inch control display. M-specific readouts also shown in the optional BMW HeadUp Display.
• Extensive personalisation using BMW ID and My BMW App. Smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Personal eSIM can be used in the vehicle. Optimised connectivity thanks to 5G antenna system.
• New-look sport seats in Sensatec/Alcantara upholstery with modelspecific design as standard. Optional: exclusive M Sport seats with integral head restraints and perforated surfaces in Vernasca leather/Sensatec or M Carbon bucket seats designed for track use that shave 10.8 kilograms off the vehicle’s weight.
• Standard specification also includes three-zone automatic climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Plus with BMW Maps navigation system, ambient lighting and Hi-Fi speaker system. Glass slide/tilt sunroof and Harman Kardon Surround Sound System can both be found on the options list.
• Far more extensive range of systems for automated driving and parking compared with the outgoing model. Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Display with no-overtaking BMW Media information 10/2022 Page 4 indicator and Park Distance Control fitted as standard. Options available include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant.
• Standard M Mode button for customised configuration of the display content and the interventions from the driver assistance systems. Choice of ROAD, SPORT and TRACK settings.
