Final words:

The Lexus offers a bigger car for the same money, and if a feature-packed naturally aspirated super-luxury V8 sedan is what you’re after, it is a viable candidate. However its weight and conservative nature (in terms of performance) can be its undoing.

In reality, the battle here is between the two Germans.

The C63 S AMG Coupe is a very different car to its sedan sibling, and if the two-door had been here against the M4 instead of the M3, we suspect it would have won outright for both its performance and its comfort factor.

Yet, the sedan is a different beast, outdone by the BMW M3 when it comes to going fast – not to mention it costs $11,285 more (or $16,285 compared to standard M3).

Considering what these cars are made for, then, it would make sense to give the win to the M3 for its performance capability and better value, but it really comes down to personal preference and requirements.

If you intend to occasionally track or drive your family-friendly sedan around some twisty roads, go for the M3. If you want something more comfort-focused with better stealth technology and engine note, you can’t go wrong with an AMG.

Really, though, having either German in the garage would have you come out smiling.

Some nice autobahn runs between GS-F & M3 Competition!

15 years ago, BMW was the driver's car.

Now, there are so many better cars out there, and the C63 is one of the leaders of the pack. Confident, powerful, comfortable. RS4 is another one.

LMFAO
There is no better driver's car than the M3 in this class. Sorry to burst your bubble.

The C63 is a very heavy V8

The RS4 is an 6 year old estate....

If there is one drivers car out of that comparison, its the 3.0 M3

It depends what road and track and what magazine, the C63 has beaten the M3 in a number of comparison tests and not too mention the Cadillac ATS-V, so the BMW is not the best drivers car in its class, but with the Merc and Cadillac its one of the best.

A drivers car isn't defined as winning comparison tests - it's about the emotion

It must have good steering, natural sense of balance to its handling, a well resolved, well damped ride, it must sound good, it must have good clean throttle response, a decent gearchange – be that manual (the m3 is the only one to include this as an option) or paddle-shift.

What a driver’s car does not automatically require is massive amounts of power, torque, acceleration, speed, grip or fundamental dynamic excellence.

ok lets brake this down.
It has shitty steering, it is not well damped its harsh af, it sounds like shit, throttle response is probably great, lovely gearbox both manual and the ZF..

After driving both the M4 and M3, I think the steering is quite good and precise. the ride is abit harsh, but I never expected a car like this to be comfortable and the manual gearbox is a dream.

It sound as good as a turbocharged 3.0 can be - cant really compare the sound of this to an 4.0 V8.

That is true but it is not only the M3 and M4 that has all these traits, the C63 has most of these covered as well. None of these cars are perfect, each has flaws but as saloon drivers cars go you cannot fault either M3 or C63, both are brilliant. If you put your list and then choose which is better, the M3/M4 will win some categories and the C63 will win some also. It is up to personal preference as to choose which is the best car. If you want a true drivers car par excellence then you have to buy a Porsche or Ferrari.

I completely agree - all this is in remarks to @E63 AMG comments about the M3 only being a drivers car 15 years ago

You can say that if you want ;) The C63 owns the M3, the M5 is getting creamed by the E63 (The tides turned with the W212F E63 S with that one), and the new one will be even more relentless, and when an S-Class is nearby, no one cares about that 7-series.

Why by a BMW when you can get an MB/AMG?
