E-Class W124 Mercedes-Benz 500 E (W124)

The Mercedes-Benz W124 is a range of executive cars made by Daimler-Benz from 1984 to 1997. From 1993, the 124 series was officially marketed as the E-Class. The W124 followed the 123 series from 1984 and was succeeded by the W210 E-Class (saloons, estates, rolling chassis) after 1995, and the C208 CLK-Class (coupés, and cabriolets) in 1997.

Its nice for it's time, but why would you want to own that car currently.....?

cuz it reminds me of days in the past when i first started driving ...
its very cool for lebanon streets not here th :D

Did your parents have the car, and you learned using there's? Your 19yrs of age right? When did you come to the US? Your english is terrific. Whats the legal driving age in Lebanon?

Figured not for today's time.

My dad still likes the older MB's for the reason, that it reminds him of the car he always loved. But he's well adjusted to todays time, and wants to get a 745, just that he doesn't drive often enough too enjoy it, so he's been holding off.

yes my parents had a 320E sports line and it was incredible for its time ,,, i was 14 years old when i first started driving ..and to be honest haha nuthing is illegal there .
well my life is mixed here and there , i studied there , and now im working here , im thinking to go to college for an automotive designer ...

BTW my english is not terrific but its not bad ...

Take classes at Art Center College of Design, a must for any prospective car designer! Took classes there and will be taking even more in the near future, the campus itself and the location is beautfiul!!!

The W124 was probably one of the first cars I fell in love w/ when I was a kid. My father had an W126 at the time, made his way into an W140, then a W220, and I can only guess what next... :D I myself have yet to collect my first MB. Will probably be a W204 3.5 V6, lets hope it's as gusty as the 500 E was....

I think the W124 500E is one the the best cars Mercedes-Benz has ever offered. Even today it is such a fresh and elegant design - and much better looking than its successors IMO.

Ok.....guys listen.

Those of you that have known and talked with me for a while know what a fan I am of the W124 E-Class right?

I found a 1994 E500 Silver/Black with just 30K miles on it! Thats no mistake, what is essentially a 12 year old car with 2 years worth of miles on it. The dealer wanted 30K for this car. I can afford it, but here is the thing. My current car (non-Mercedes) has a lot of miles on it, so in short it wouldn't make sense for me to buy a 12 year old car for 30K when I'll actually "need" a new car by next spring.

You don't know how much I thought about this. I would take breaks from work just to go take a look at the car since the dealer is right down the street from my job. I didn't dare drive it because I knew I would buy it. I tried over and over to convince myself that it made "sense" to buy this E500 instead of waiting until spring and buying something like a 2002 CLK430 or something.

Thank goodness that E500 was sold yesterday. I was kinda sad about it, but I know it didn't make sense for me to buy that car right now.

DARK CHILD - I started a similar topic on the old board when the GCF site posted a recent story about the W124 E500, which is quite possibly my favorite Mercedes-Benz of all time. I know it is my favorite Mercedes of its era followed by "I am RNDS"s R129 SL.

Whew! I had to tell someone about what I went through over the past week and 1/2 or so.

Also, with only about 1500 500E/E500s sold in the U.S. from 1992-1994 for me to find one with only 30K miles, it was probably one of the top 5 best kept such cars in the U.S.

LOL must have been hard to resist the temptation Merc1. But you did it! :eusa_clap

Oh God yes, one of the toughest things I've had to go through - automotively. It was like I had a little devil on my shoulder wearing a MB star saying "buy me" and a angel with a dollar sign on the other saying save your money for a more sensible purchase.
