C5 New Citroen C5 Saloon & Tourer

The Citroën C5 is a large family car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën between 2000 and 2018 in France, and between 2008 and 2022 in China, over two generations. It replaced the Citroën Xantia, in the large family car class, and is the first modern Citroën with "Cx" naming nomenclature, previously used by its ancestors, the C4 and C6 from 1930. A crossover, unrelated to the previous generations, was released in 2021, with crossover styling and marketed as the Citroën C5 X.

Re: New Citroen C5

Not a bad looking car, but there are so many hints of a lot of other cars, the shape of the side window is a bit Nissa Maxima, while the rear is a mix of Lexus GS with 1 series coupe tailights. I like the interior design, espically the top half of the dashboard design.

Re: New Citroen C5

Not too bad. I don't like some details in the interior though. Looks like they are using asymmetric design just for the sake of it, not for ergonomics.

Re: New Citroen C5

Very similar to the concept exhibited at Frankfurt. My opinion on the design is positive. It looks much more interesting than a Passat or Camry. I'm feeling the interior design too.

Re: New Citroen C5

Really pretty, the most sexy middle sedan actually I think.

With no doubt the prettiest Citröen since a long time...

It however does not look like a Citröen at all, it lacks the Citröen-spirit (they lost it long ago, but here it looks like a Ford or VW or whatever).

It is very sexy though. Inside and outside the best-looking sedan of the category, better than Passat, Mondeo, Laguna and Cie.

Indeed it really looks like a Peugeot. It looks like a facelifted 407 from certain angles...

Re: New Citroen C5

Yes it does look nice, but the 64k dollar question is what is the build quality and reliability like ?

The previous C5 felt dreadfully poor quality inside.

The C6 seems to be great, but it is handbuilt, so we will have to wait and see with C5.

Same with the new Laguna. They are saying quality is so much better. Again, time will tell.

Re: New Citroen C5

Resized them just a few seconds ago...

As for the car, I do agree with Monster. Looks like a Nissan Maxima mixed with a Lexus GS. I haven't any complaints about that though... Car looks pretty sharp.

The profile view looks like a Ford Mondeo to me, especially the rear lights! :t-cheers: But it doesn't look so bad. Citroen really have to bring out the C5!

Re: New Citroen C5

Good looking car IMO. This is just like the convertible they showed a few weeks back? They could make it here in the U.S. again with these designs if the quality and dealer service were right. I really like the interior too.

Kinda looks like some sort of future high-end Volvo or something. Very logical and button-filled. I like it.

REVEALED: Citroën C5 Tourer

The collective yawn you may have heard around the world at 12:15pm Central European Time could possibly have been a reaction to the new Citroën C5. Released at the Geneva Motor Show, this new touring wagon has the large, popped out rear window of the C6, matched to the typically Citroën grille and headlights. Some reporters have likened it to the more traditional German wagons. Others compare it to the run-of-the-mill family trucksters we've seen again and again.

However, on the inside, we find some more refined touches. Weighty doors lead to a huge, comfortable interior, with good finishing touchs that makes the inhabitants confident in their surroundings. It is nice to be able to push the buttons on this car without thinking they are going to break off. Speaking of buttons, their are lots of them... everywhere. We like at least having the option to mess around with the multi-multi-function steering wheel and the SOS and hands-free phone buttons on the console, even if it means we must pull over to safely play with the toys.

This new large family car will be looking to compete with Citroën's rival French manufacturer, Renault. The third gen Renault Laguna has already been on the market since October, fighting with the Ford Mondeo, Opel Vectra, and Volkswagen Passat.

A 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine pushes the C5 with 138 horsepower and 236 ft-lb of torque. Torque improves up to 251 ft-lb with the C5's overboost settings. 0-100 kph in 10.9 seconds off a six-speed manual is not too shabby considering the family-oriented purpose of this car. A V6 petrol engine and V6 turbodiesel will also be available, with the latter getting 208 hp, and a 0-100 time of 9.1 seconds.

With its newly given five-star crash rating for protection of adults inside the cabin, and a starting pricetag that is lower than much of its competition, the €20,500 Citroën C5 tourer could really shake up the European large family car segment.

Next generation Citroen C5 might not be sold in Europe
Confirmed for Chinese market

Citroën has reconfirmed plans for a C5 replacement, but it's not known at this point whether the model will be sold in Europe.

The company's CEO Linda Jackson says a new C5 is on its way and will be sold in China, but the future of the mid-size sedan on the old continent is uncertain at this moment. Citroën doesn't know for sure whether selling the model in Europe would represent a viable business case, especially taking into consideration the D-segment is shrinking as many customers decide to buy an SUV.

Word on the street says Citroën won't offer the proprietary Hydractive hydropneumatic suspension on the next C5 as PSA apparently wants to drop it altogether to cut costs. However, future models of the now standalone DS luxury marque are bound to receive a "sophisticated" suspension, but details are not available at the moment.

Linda Jackson didn't say when the new C5 will be out, but most likely it will go on sale in China within the next two years taking into account the current generation has been on sale since 2008.
