- Prices start at 61,999 euros[1] for the E 200 Saloon (WLTP: combined fuel consumption: 7.3‑6.4 l/100 km, combined CO₂ emissions: 166-144 g/km)[2]
- Nine models available at the market launch in autumn, including four plug-in hybrids
- Extensively expanded standard equipment with AVANTGARDE line, metallic paint, KEYLESS-GO and flush-fitted door handles
Saloon and estate, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models: E-Class customers will be able to choose from a broad range right from the market launch. A total of nine models are available at the launch, with more to follow soon. Orders can be placed at prices from 61,999 euros for the E 200 Saloon or 64,498 euros for the E 200 Estate with the same engine (WLTP: combined fuel consumption: 7.6-6.7 l/100 km, combined CO₂ emissions: 173-152 g/km)2. The saloon and estate will arrive at European dealers starting in autumn 2023.
New offer strategy with expanded standard equipment[3]
The standard equipment of the new E-Class has been significantly upgraded. In addition to the metallic paintwork and the flush-fitted doors, this also includes KEYLESS-GO and Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC. Also part of the standard specification is Blind Spot Assist and the AVANTGARDE equipment line for the interior and exterior. The AVANTGARDE exterior combines design features such as light-alloy wheels (design and size depending on engine), chrome highlights and the radiator grille with fine Mercedes-Benz pattern. Typical of the AVANTGARDE interior (standard) is the mix of digital and analogue luxury. Large displays and the multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather characterise the modern operating and display concept. This contrasts with classic interior trim in open-pore ash wood.
Like the customers of other model series, E-Class buyers also benefit from the new packaging logic. This bundles frequently requested equipment into packages that build on each other. The comprehensive AVANTGARDE Advanced Package[4] is part of the standard equipment and complements the E-Class with some helpful extras. It includes, among other features, LED headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, as well as 12.3- and 14.4-inch driver and central displays. Also on board is seat heating for the two front seats and a rear bench backrest that folds down at the touch of a button and thus creates a bigger load compartment. Smartphones can be comprehensively integrated into the MBUX system and charged wirelessly while driving. The pre-installation for MBUX Entertainment Plus enables drivers to access numerous apps from the Mercedes me Store[5] via MBUX. Thanks to the optional selfie and video camera, drivers can participate in video conferences using their own image. Furthermore, the equipment includes a free data package from a third-party provider for one year. Depending on the market, there is a communication module with 5G transmission technology. The mobile phone standard 5G makes much faster data rates possible than LTE/UMTS. Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and the reversing camera help when parking.
The optional AVANTGARDE Advanced Plus Package adds further highlights to the equipment: MBUX also supports augmented reality for navigation when finding destinations. Navigation and traffic information are integrated into live images on the central display. The 360° camera with bird's-eye, all-around view provides further assistance for the driver when parking. DIGITAL LIGHT constantly adjusts the illumination of the roadway to the lighting conditions, the traffic situation, the course of the road, and the weather.
The EXCLUSIVE equipment line with an upright Mercedes star on the bonnet gives the E-Class a classic appearance. This also includes the radiator grille with three horizontal twin louvres. Additional trim elements in chrome create contrasts. Fine trim elements and open-pore wood with aluminium trim create a luxurious ambience in the EXCLUSIVE interior. This character is underlined by the EXCLUSIVE Premium Package with its many high-quality optional extras. In addition to numerous driving assistance systems, the Active Ambient Lighting also visualises the music being played. The Burmester® 4D surround sound system elevates the audio experience in the E-Class to a new level. Thanks to noise-insulating acoustic glazing, passengers then enjoy a 360-degree sound experience largely undisturbed by noise from the outside world. Further components of the Premium Package in Germany are DIGITAL LIGHT with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and the KEYLESS‑GO Convenience Package with pre-installation for the Digital Vehicle Key[6]. This makes it easy to start and lock the E-Class by the driver carrying[7] a compatible device. Key sharing is also possible: Family members or friends can be invited via a digital channel to use the E-Class.
The optional EXCLUSIVE Premium Plus Package fulfils almost all equipment wishes. In addition to the contents of the Premium Package, it comprises these safety and comfort features: DIGITAL LIGHT with projection function and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, illuminated radiator grille, panoramic sliding sunroof, head-up display, MBUX Interior Assistant and THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control with four climate zones and Digital Vent Control automatic air vents.
The distinctive styling of AMG Line Exterior allows a preference for dynamic design to be expressed. Highlights include the AMG front apron in A-wing design and the rear apron in diffuser look. AMG light-alloy wheels emphasise the athletic appearance. The AMG Line Interior (included in the price of AMG Line Exterior) also gives the E-Class more sportiness. For example, the multifunction sport steering wheel in nappa leather, which is flat at the bottom and perforated in the grip area, enhances the dynamic expression of the interior. The sport seats have pronounced side bolsters for good lateral support. Their head restraints have an integral look. Equipment packages that build on one another are also available for the E-Class with AMG Line, and underline the individual character of the vehicle.
Illuminated radiator grille, MBUX Superscreen and other equipment highlights
An illuminated radiator grille (476 euros[8],9) is optionally available for all lines. It expands the position markers. At night or at dusk, four LED modules send white light through the fibre optics. While driving, the radiator frame is illuminated in combination with the dipped beam. When stationary, the radiator grille adds another level of staging to the Coming Home and Leaving Home scenarios.
On request, the new E-Class Saloon is available with the Technology Package (3,320.10 euros[9]). This includes the all-round AIRMATIC air suspension system with ADS+ continuously adjustable damping and rear-axle steering. As a mild hybrid model, the estate has an air-sprung rear axle as standard. The full-support AIRMATIC with ADS+ air suspensiom (1,785 euros9) can be ordered for it as an option.
The features of the Driving Assistance Package Plus (2,540.65 euros9) include Active Steering Assist, which assists with staying in lane. As already on motorways, the E-Class can now also restart automatically in city traffic and on country roads after a longer standstill. Another new feature: if Active Steering Assist is no longer available because the lane markings are not clearly visible, it signals this to the driver by vibrations in the steering wheel.
The dashboard shapes the digital experience in the interior. The 3D driver display[10] immediately brings warnings and functions of the driver assistance systems into the driver's view with striking depth and shadow effects. It also expands the ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection to include a microsleep warning. If the E-Class is equipped with the optional front passenger screen (1,773.10 euros9), the large glass surface of the MBUX Superscreen extends to the central display. A selfie and video camera is part of this optional extra.
Individualisation via the Mercedes me Store
The new E-Class also offers the option of activating additional vehicle functions as on-demand features via over-the-air technology (OTA) in a number of functional areas. This means that after purchase and the original new car configuration, some of the equipment can be adapted according to personal preferences. The on-demand features are available in the Mercedes me Store[11] as a one-time purchase or as a subscription model. The range is being expanded step by step.
If the E-Class is equipped with DIGITAL LIGHT, DIGITAL LIGHT with projection function can also be enabled via OTA[12]. This enables the projection of auxiliary markings or warning symbols onto the road surface[13]. If equipped with a trailer hitch and 360° camera, Trailer Manoeuvring Assist can be subsequently activated via OTA. It facilitates reversing manoeuvres when towing. Up to a speed of 7 km/h and up to a gradient of 15 per cent, Trailer Manoeuvring Assist automatically controls the steering angle on the towing vehicle. Other on-demand features include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC (in markets where basic DISTRONIC is not standard), MBUX Augmented Reality for navigation and ENERGIZING COMFORT/ENERGIZING COACH.
