Ghibli [Official] 2014 Maserati Ghibli

The Maserati Ghibli (Tipo M157) is an executive car produced by Italian automobile manufacturer Maserati. The car was unveiled to the public at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
Chrysler didn't take a FWD platform and make a 300 and then a Maserati out of it. Period.

If that were true then you're telling me that these new Masers are based on a FWD junk?

Is that what you're saying here? Because at first you stated that the bones were Italian.

You stated that the bones of this car were Italian, now you're trying to say that they're basically the same FWD junk that Chrysler built for years.

All of this in an attempt to say that Mercedes didn't do anything for Chrysler and/or to say that someone this car is Italian when it isn't.

Now pick a theory so we can better debate it.

I said I didn't know of a FWD platform being converted to RWD, thanks for the examples. Too bad it doesn't apply here.

Yes

The CEO of Maserati himself says that 90%+ of the parts are proprietary...

Last I checked, Maserati is an Italian company and if 90%+ (the vast majority) of the parts are Maserati, then it would be an Italian car, no?

So 90% of the car is shxt then, right?

Maserati Ghibli Awarded Top Safety Pick Distinction by IIHS [w/Video]

One area in which the Maserati Ghibli simply had to at least match its mainstream rivals was safety. It’s an all-new car, so it benefits from the very latest in crash protection know-how as well as both active and passive systems to take all manner of impact avoidance measures – it even comes with all-wheel drive. All told, we were not surprised it was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The testing procedure it was put through in order to achieve the title “simulates a side impact with a large SUV or pickup truck, front moderate overlap impact, roof-crush consistent with a rollover, and a rear collision capable of inducing whiplash.” It achieved the maximum “good” rating for each one and made use of all its seven standard airbags and splashes of high-strength lightweight materials like aluminum and hot-formed steel.

Video evidence for two of those staged crashes, the moderate overlap and side impact tests can be found after the virtual jump, below.

Best sounding V6 I know of...wow. Now bring on the 523hp V8 version that we all know is coming.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Maserati's offer the best exhaust notes south of Ferrari. Meanwhile in Germany, automakers are working with T-Pain and Will.I.Am to create fake sounds for their next cars.

so everyone keeps on saying turbo cars can't sound great...clearly Ferrari and Maserati forgot to listen...Mercedes hasn't done too badly either

Sexy? Someone needs to stop blogging while drunk. That shop is no more charming than a donkey's torso attached to the back legs and ass of a baboon.

I see Maserati is trying to make a big run at the 5 Series/E Class/A6 drivers with the Ghibli. There is no Maserati dealership anywhere near me so I don't really even have the option of trying out the new Ghibli, but for those of you who have seen or driven one what are your thoughts on it? Would you rank it ahead of any of our beloved Germans?

Thanks in advance for your respective insights.

Maserati should be proud of this car. Hopefully it will do for them what the XF did for Jaguar - it brought the brand back to relevancy and has help fund new exciting models like the F-Type. The Achilles heel of the Ghibli will be reliability and quality. A Granturismo buyer might be willing to accept flaws and short comings in return for enjoying an exotic, but someone who has taken out a Ghibli on a 3 year lease as a commuter car might be less forgiving if the car needs to spend lots of time in the repair shop.
