I still drive my 1m coupe. I bought yesterday an rs3 as our fast family car:)

Yes an rs3 is no ideal track car but most don t buy an rs3 as a track car. It's a nice all weather daily for us. I don't want a garage full of Bmw. Love to have something complete different also!

If you want a really exiting car you better off at Porsche with a gt4. But my wife need also to bring our kids to school and get groceries and don t get stuck on the first speed bump. I like the all day sporty use all weather sporty use of the rs3 it s perfect for our use!

If I go to the track or drifting I take the 1m coupe.
If I go rallying I take my e30 m3 grA

Did i consider xdrive? No

Because if you want Quattro you buy audi. If you want rwd you buy Bmw.

If you want fwd you can better spend your money not on cars:)

Knowing your drive habits like I do, I think you would be better off with the new Alfa Romeo Giulia QV next to your 1M as far as a family car goes. And, if safety is really a priority you even have the AWD option.

Don't take me wrong, I don't want to sound like I know better than yourself what best suits you. It's just that the Giulia wasn't yet known, let alone an available option, by the time you decided to buy the RS3.

At least now you can say:

"If you want AWD you also buy Alfa. If you want RWD you also buy Alfa"

No Alfa for me. Italien shoes maybe but not cars:)

Ok Andre, it's your call! But remember, everyone is saying that it looks like a german car and you know how the old saying goes:

"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."
;)

I have done 1000km on the RS3 and all i can say it s awesome car. The sport seats are fantastic. Seating position is perfect for me. The seats are low enough i am 1.89.

This car can be used daily and with a touch it s a car which can give you massive 4wd fun.

The grip of the pirelli are so high that it s almost impossible to test the 4wd system. So i bought me set of extra wheels with tyres with no grip in rainy conditions so i can test the 4wd haldex V system.

All i can say audi did a good job on this one. Traction control can be fully disabled at last!

In long corners when you lift off throttle the nose comes inside that s a good thing. When you a apply the brakes midcorner you can get the back end out with traction control off. That s how it should be!

in a second gear corner when you floor the throttle the back steps out and you can do awesome four wheel drifts.

I am almost happy. I miss 2 things hmmm 3 things.

Keep throttle and left foot brake still does not work. You get an soft engine cut off. It was promised that you could use left foot brake on the RS3 i have not find an option to do that. Would like to have it before winter time!

I really do miss an manual handbrake. A car like this with all the rally advertisement should have one!

I need to find a way to disable ABS for driving on snowy roads. Without ABS you brake harder on snowy roads because snow piles up under the winter tires. On my 1M coupe i can pull the ABS fuse out. I am still in search if you can do that with the RS3 also.

Andre, just don't forget that except for the last point what you've just described also applies to a good FWD car, precisely the ones you hate so much.:p

The only FWD car that I know of capable of putting the back end out under hard acceleration in a corner is the mighty Honda Integra.
