Giulia [Official] Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact executive car produced by Alfa Romeo. Known internally as the Type 952, it was unveiled in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first saloon offered by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011.
Zagato lost the plot on this one, totally
I think they have losen it after the 60s, with their last proper beautiful car being the Lancia Fulvia Sport.
The Alfa TZ3 and the last two Aston are the only ones I like since the 60s era. Afterward, they've been eclipsed by Bertone, Pininfarina and Italdesign.
It seems that it will be? Is there a history of Zagato designing a real official car of a particular brand as advertised here? like Bertone etc.?
During the "coachbuilder" era they did many, from the Aston DB4 Zagato, pre and post war Alfas (6C, 8C, TZ) to several Maserati; but the only official/regular production cars I can think of are some Lancias. At that time, Lancia hired different design studios for the diverse body styles. So one studio designed the sedan, another the coupe, other the cabrio, etc.
Zagato designed the sporting versions for the coupes of Fulvia, Flavia and Flaminia.
Fun fact; the very first, exhibition car of the later was bought at the Turin car show by the late, immense, cavaliere Mastroianni (here picking it at the factory):

On a second thought after watching the video you posted, it seems they're not taking the inspiration from the TZ cars, but from the Alfa Junior Zagato:

And the SWB nomenclature gives me more clues; just look at this baby:

Thanks for sharing this beauty, I have never seen this car before and it just highlights how stunning many classic Alfas were in their haydays.

I fixed the disastrous side profile.

The original's rising beltline is way too high and makes the rear of the car look way too tall, all while the car's design is mislead from the sleek, low, and wide front end.

I lowered the beltline, as well as lowering the rear end more, to turn the rising beltline into a balanced nearly flat beltline. Along with the lower trunk now looking like an actual coupe, I think it looks so much more cohesive.

I shouldn't be praising my own shitty photoshop.. but I truly think the low front end actually works with my edit, and the car looks more like an exotic GT car with great proportions, instead of a tall, fat hatchback-shaped thing.

I think I must be the only person that likes this car. I remember the original SZ that came out in 1989 was initially frowned upon by the motoring press for its looks but now it's a classic.

It will have huge presence on the road.

It looks weird. It's certainly no love from the first sight, but I can't describe it as ugly either. The droopy (is it actually?) nose doesn't show good enough in the pictures, but I'm sure it will be bold in real life.

It took me a while to fully digest it, I admit.

Alfa Romeo was doing good looking cars in the past, their current lineup is a recycled crap from FCA and Stellantis, designwise also.

The Zagato looks bad indeed, dated as the actual lineup, like an attempt from 2013…

It reminds me what he did of the Z4, a monstruosity

Ok here is a good internal combustion question, given the choice at the same money, this or a new BMW 3.0 CSL? I personally would choose this as it looks a whole lot sexier and more Desirable with a capital D.

Both look fokken ugly Rolf. If you’re going to make a “special” then at least make it especially good to look at. For these amounts of money, middle-class me says “neither”. I understand they’re collector’s pieces, designed to be housed in luxury facilities, but I want cars to drive and not look at.

The front - albeit it took some time to digest - really has something. The rear looks awful to me. Just think, how beautiful the Giulia - especially in GTA guise - looks in comparison!

Looking at the front some more, the more I dislike it. Too much negative space.

Rear? I like it albeit it's too much like the Vantage.

Very much like the side profile.

Is the Giulia SWB €750,000 too?

It looks even better in this video
