Defender [Official] The All-new 2020 Land Rover Defender (L663)

The Land Rover Defender (initially introduced as the Land Rover One Ten, and in 1984 joined by the Land Rover Ninety, plus the new, extra-length Land Rover One Two Seven in 1985) is a series of British off-road cars and pickup trucks. They consistently have four-wheel drive, and were developed in the 1980s from the original Land Rover series which was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948.
What the actual…? No man, that’s just daft. Completely works against the purposely rugged and utilitarian looks of the Defender to end up looking like a big, riced Countryman. A Mansory-level achievement.

It's pretty much all they are used for [boulevard cruising], so I don't see a problem?

Sure you have some rich British farmers who actually use them (think people like Harry from Harry's Garage), but the vast majority of these will maybe see the dirt once in their life, just to convince its owner it is capable. And I do not expect this version to be less capable off road anyways. Fit some offroad tires and it'll go anywhere. In style.

On brand then. I occasionally drive past an Urban showroom... picture from Google Maps...

Dumb, Dumber and Dumberer...

This is in a relatively rural area near a city, there's plenty of mon£y in some of the smaller villages in the area - it's not rural enough to actually need an SUV (or even an all wheel drive vehicle), but it is rural enough that they don't look that out of place (unlike Knightsbridge for example), because there are plenty of SUV's being used for that 'U' purpose, but it means you can cruise through the city (the heady heights of Milton Keynes :D) looking all "gangster" I suppose... It's the wheel/tyre combos that really get me though... some of the rural roads are absolute shite... it makes me wince just thinking about smashing those rims into all the pot holes.

... but each to their own I suppose.

You guys just haven't accepted the fact that an SUV is the new sedan.

It'll come.

It's not about the fact they're SUV's, it's that a premium is being paid to the aftermarket to make them look worse and most likely be worse to live with day to day.

What they used to do to the sedans, yes. They do that now with SUV cars. Who would have thought?

Or maybe you don’t recognise that there are places in the world where cars get sold other than Western Europe.

A Land Rover Defender is really good off-road. To butcher one like this is to make it absolutely useless on anything worse than a just-graded dirt road. It not only defeats the purpose but also spoils the overall product. Basically rendering the product unusable for a significant function it was engineered for. It’s just stupid.

Urban is located near London, not in the Australian outback. At best these cars go to a safari park and that's pushing it already.

It’s the ultimate expression for the bored and nouveau Riche. Needs to have more and more it’s why customisation is hugely profitable to these companies.

Because it is a tremendous machine?
Because is it beautiful?
Because does it have brand cache?
Becuse is the best all-terrain?
Because it is one of the best SUV/Jeep in the historical boom of these vehicles?

Because it’s a more affordable and obtainable G63 AMG and probably cheaper/easier to insurance than a Range Rover.

What a time we live in. A drat race between jacked up Porsche, Ferrari, Aston and Lamborghini that weight more than 2,000kg each.
