That looks pretty good, I like it. If they use some elements of the XC90 as in above renders the cars will look classy/stylish.

I think this will work out very well. If petrol keeps being cheap, environmental taxes will rise and when this hits the US, the tables will turn. Petrol is really, really cheap there because of no concern for the environment. Here, taxes are more than half of the price and that is not counting VAT (because we are obviously paying (VAT) tax on the (environmental) tax).

Things will change and if that is in 4 or 10 years, Volvo will be prepared.

Its a good move from Volvo as rivals all using heavier, more thirstier V8's.

Low is relative to where you live, in Norway the petrol price hasn't dropped at all.

Prices are going down in Norway and everywhere in the world.

$2.11 on September 22, and $1.95 on December 22 in Norway.

In Holland the standard Euro 95 gasoline is down to roughly €1.50. Norway is around €0.10 more expensive.

What happens in Norway is the price for diesel is usually around 13.59 NOK on Sunday night, petrol 14.29 NOK, this drops to around 12.19 for diesel, 12.99 petrol on Monday morning then spends the rest of the week climbing to the Sunday night high, only to drop again Monday morning.

I'll say it again the rice of fuel in Norway hasn't dropped at all.

I'm not sure where you got your petrol prices from, because $2.11 is 15.79 NOK, I can't remember petrol being that expensive where I live.

That looks fantastic. The market is in dire need of proper alternatives of the German three.

I'll believe that when I see it, I think the chances of the US govt instigating environmental taxes on fuel will happen around the same time as effective gun control laws are enacted and the second amendment revoked.

The problem I see for Volvo is that their major market is the US, I really don't see American car buyers being happy with 4 cylinder engines, yes even fancy 4 cylinder hybrid engines, just read the Swedespeed forum and you'll see this, the only people defending the change are Volvo America employees.

I hope that since the new VEA is modular it's going to be fairly easy to turn it into a V6 or V8.

I remember reading that the platform was optimized for an inline-4 or smaller. This was done to save on development cost, thus making adding anything larger a more difficult and costly task. However, I can't remember if that straight from the guys from Volvo or mere hear-say. If it's the latter, then what I said was absolute crap and I wish you a good day, sir.

They had all the engines and dropped them. Well I can only say it, I could never say why...

That is true, it won't fit and I5 or I6, but when you see photos of the engine under the hood of the new XC90 it looks like there is enough space to fit in a transverse V8. There is a lot of air between the engine and radiator.

That said I like Volvo's, I loved the V70 we had and would look at a V90, I'm personally fine with a 4 cylinder diesel, it would be what I would buy in Norway.

Some site on the net, shoed a graph with a dropping line for the fuel prices. Surely gasoline must have become a little less expensive over the last month or so? Over here it's becoming really noticeable now.
