2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Plays Hide And Seek During Cold Weather Testing | Carscoops

The prototype appears less...ummm..."martialistic" than the Cross Turismo concept. And I really appreciate that. Will the car be more of a "Sport Turismo" after all ?

With so much being so uncertain in these difficult times, I can no more than SUSPECT that this car will be the most successful model based on the VAG J1 BEV platform, outselling both the Taycan sedoupe and Audis' upcoming (I assume) eTron GT.

Porsche is already finding it a bit challenging to meet the demand for the Taycan sedoupes. The Cross/Sport Turismo will provide yet another substantial hike in the order files. Then again, Audis' soon to be presented eTron GT may relieve the run on the Taycan sedoupe a bit. VAG appears to have a winner with its' J1 platform, despite the rather mediocre ranges.

The range on the 4S with big battery is pretty decent Tesla Bjørn on his test cycle managed over 560km.

Over 580 kms of range would be quite satisfactory should it be achievable under "normal" mixed road journeys with a majority of that distance on the Autobahn. In the Taycan, for example, I'd like to travel at cruising speeds somewhere in the vicinity of 150-160km/h with occasional sprints to 220-230 km/h conditions permitting. I travel the Hamburg-Frankfurt/Main route occasionally which is some 600 kms in distance. In my old Audi TT, I could travel that route at similar speeds on less than one tank of petrol with about 120-130 kms of mileage left. It would be great if the Taycan could at least approach that performance. "Raw Egging" the accelerator doesn't count as we are talking about a Porsche here and not an ID 3.

I see your point, but I live in Norway, there isn't a road with a legal limit higher than 90kph within 200km of where I live. It's all relative.

Don't forget that people do round trips in one day and there might not be a charging point at the destination. However most commutes are less than 50km so the 580km range should be sufficient for most trips.

It would have to be somewhere pretty obscure in Europe that doesn't have any charging infrastructure.

I don't know what public charging points are like but in the UK they are not perfect for non-tesla owners. Sometimes charging points are out of order, defective, occupied or slow.

It is normal ride height, not lifted. :(

Could it be that Porsche will introduce both a Sport Turismo as well as a Cross Turismo ?

After all, Porsche is quite proficient regarding the presentation of ever more model variants (see the ever expanding 911 line-up).
