Videos 0-300 km/h: BMW M5 vs AMG E 63 S vs Porsche Panamera Turbo S vs Cadillac CTS-V sport auto

If the Panamera struggles in performance against the M5 and E63S, and the AMG GT 4 Door Coupe is to be positioned above the E63S, could one deduce that the AMG 4 Door Coupe will outgun the Panamera?
Even if AMG 4 Door Coupe manages to outgun the Panamera dynamically, it is still a class below. A real Panamera competitor would be a S class 4 Door Coupe.

Some link to support this statement? The GT chassis is a bespoke AMG chassis with a transaxle and front middle engine layout. It has nothing to do with E class.
GT yes, GT 4 door no. It's not a stand alone GT chassis, it is not a transaxle and it is based on the E class. This was officially announced by MB. Three cars on the same basis: E class, CLS and AMG 4 Door Coupe

The Panamera is in no mans land, it’s not dynamically capable as the class benchM5ark or the E63S and not as good as a S class or 7er as a luxury car.

It is fastest and sportiest in its class by a track mile.
Also you can twist it to no mans land or unique proposal, there is no orher car like it until they make 4 door coupes of the 7,S and a8.

You are free to slice the cake as you please.

Ps
Correction Aston rapide is like the panamera. So there is another one but it’s a dinosaur.

.
Which proves my point doesn’t it.

Let me just say it’s not the Porsche I’d have. The II Panamera is great car with the brand cachet the other Germans simply can’t match ,but there are better cars for less money.

Of course it’s not the Porsche anyone would have out of the line up, and it still goes head to head with the top of what the other Germans have to offer in their line ups, proves your point of the brand cachet thing.
How can you pick a panamera when the line up has gt2s and gt3s and 918s? Lol

And this there are better cars for less money can be said about a shit load of cars, especially as they get more and more expensive.

I must say I agree with you on that. It's trying everything but not accomplishing much, but that's just my opinion. Facts may be something different.

Sorry, but lol. None of that is true; it was just speculation prior to release. It's based off the modular MRA platform that underpins the E, CLS, etc. In it's specification, it's closest in relation to the E63.

AMG says the GT 4-Door is a direct relation to those cars, and should mimic their supercar drama in a more practical body. At its core, though, the GT 4-Door is more closely related to its traditional saloon cousins than Mercedes might want to admit. Underpinned by a version of the MRA platform that is used by everything from the C-class to the S-class, the structure is not related to the aluminium-intensive chassis of the GT coupe.

This in part is due to the 4-Door’s adoption of all-wheel drive, an element that would be difficult to engineer-in if the car utilised a transaxle-mounted gearbox as in the two-door GT. As a result, the GT 4-Door loses the elongated bonnet and cab-backwards stance of its more exotic two-door sibling, but in the process gains the ability to produce some astounding performance figures thanks to all-wheel drive traction.

It's a fact that we can see this Panamera in a comparison test with the M5, E63 AMG and the next day in a comparison test with the S class, A8 and the 7er. This can not be said for any other car.

Haven’t seen such a positive review from MT about a BMW in a long time especially from JL ...it’s either BMW are paying these rags good money again :Dor it’s really that good. Can’t wait for the head to head.

“For pure driving thrills in the just-over-two-ton sedan class, I still believe I'd prefer the purer, more focused Cadillac CTS-V. But without driving the two cars back to back on the same day on the same road, it's hard to say for certain. Call it a hunch. I can say that compared to E 63 or RS 7, BMW's got 'em licked not just in terms of performance but also in terms of driving pleasure. I think what I'm most shocked about is that this F90 M5 shares a platform with all the other G30 5 Series that I've driven, and it is superior to the point that the car honestly doesn't feel related. No, it's not an E39 M5. Want a new one of those? Maybe some Chevy dealer still has a recently discontinued SS lying around. Also no, this big beast is not the deceptively great, F1-engined E60. But you know what? The wallflower-looking F90 does indeed rock. More important, unlike the last version, I say this M5 is worthy of the badge. Future performance icon? Just maybe. Although maybe I'm just getting soft. Maybe I've been seduced by the F90's crazy numbers? Last night I tried one of my wife's sweet potato fries. Nope. I still hate yams.”

"I’m doing you, dear enthusiast reader, a disservice if I type another sentence without mentioning the new M5’s performance. I’d ask if you’re sitting down, but you might as well be standing on your head. Zero to 60 mph happens in 3.0 seconds. Yes, 3 seconds flat to 60 mph. McLaren 675LT? Zero to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds. Acura NSX? 3.1 seconds. More important, the 603-hp Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ takes 3.2 seconds to hit 60 mph, the 605-hp Audi RS 7 does 3.3 seconds, and the 640-hp Cadillac CTS-V needs 3.8. If you want to get to 60 mph quicker in a four-door vehicle, call Tesla, as the instant-torque Model S P100D Ludicrous Plus is our all-time champ at 2.3 seconds. The M5 is real quick.

This fact is further borne out down the quarter mile. A Ferrari Enzo and the 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO both rip up the quarter in 11.0 seconds. The BMW M5, like the 991.1Porsche GT3 RS, Carrera GT, Ferrari 458 Italia, and AMG SLS Black Series, is slower, all needing 11.1 seconds to go 1,320 feet. Corvette Z06? 11.2 seconds. That’s just plum whacky. Are you not impressed? Also, the BMW’s ridiculous numbers aren’t just the result of AWD grip during the launch. The four-door’s 126.7-mph trap speed is just 0.3 mph behind the 3,550-pound Z06. Please note: Out here in the Golden State, we’re (stupidly, pointlessly, frustratingly) running our tests on 91-octane “premium,” not 93, so in many other places, the M5 will be even quicker. As for the direct competition, the AMG E 63 S (more than 300 pounds heavier at 4,581) comes closest, doing 11.3 at 124.2 mph. The Audi RS 7 takes 11.5 seconds at 120.4 mph, and the RWD-only Caddy CTS-V brings up the rear, doing the quarter in 11.9 at 122.0 mph. Your takeaway: This new M5 is an accelerative monster.

She handles great, too. In our figure-eight testing the M5 put down a 23.3-second lap. That’s extraordinary. That’s 1.1 seconds off of a Lamborghini Huracán Performante with triple-sticky tires and 0.9 second behind the alien-technology-infused McLaren 720S. As for the direct competition, the E 63 S does a 23.6, the RS 7 lays down a 24.6, and the CTS-V is good for a 24.2. For just a little more perspective, the lightweight track-day-special BMW M4 GTS also does a 23.3-second lap, as do the Shelby GT350R and the Corvette Grand Sport. Crazy plus amazing equals cramazing. The Mercedes-AMG GT S, our former Best Driver’s Car, needs 23.4 seconds. Oh, and let’s not forget braking. The M5 needs just 97 feet to stop from 60 mph, whereas the E 63 S requires 116 feet, the Audi RS 7 needs 105 feet, and the Cadillac uses 99 feet. What a beast."

23,6sec for the AMG. 26,6s would have been ridiculously off pace for this class.

Verdict: (roughly translated)
The new BMW M5 is the best example of german engineering and a deserved winner in this comparison. It fascinates on the racetrack with its sensational powertrain and agile handling. But still BMW neither forgot the comfort nor is it too expensive. The Porsche Panamera Turbo has a balanced and elegant ride and a lot of spac, but it is too expensive and lacks the sheer punch of the M5. Third winner is the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4matic+, because it creates true Race-Feeling with its aggressive handling, the hammering V8 and the harsh ride and does no compromise.

So, will we be seeing full scans soon? :p:D

The reviews are so much more positive compare to previous generation M5. BMW did good and done the homework with the new M5.
Base version of the M5 is quicker and handles better than E63S, Panamera, first time in two generations back.
M5 Competition package going to be quicker and better too, when will we see a E63S+ to take back the crown...
