Infiniti pegs JX to start at $41,400
Infiniti expects the JX to become one of its large-volume products, competing against models such as the Acura MDX and Lexus RX.
LOS ANGELES -- Infiniti's new seven-passenger JX35 crossover will start at $41,400 when it reaches showrooms in March as a 2013 model.
The three-row JX35 will come in two versions, a front-wheel-drive model starting at $41,400, including $950 in destination charges, and an all-wheel-drive version that starts at $42,500. Both models will come with a 265-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine and continuously variable transmission, the company announced.
Infiniti expects the JX to become one of its large-volume products, competing against models such as the Acura MDX and Lexus RX. It will be manufactured at Nissan North America's plant in Smyrna, Tenn.
Acura's popular MDX, also a seven-passenger crossover, is priced starting at $43,815, including freight. But the MDX comes standard as an awd model. The Lexus RX starts at $39,950 as a fwd model, including freight.
Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti, said he expects about 65-70 percent of JX sales to be the awd version.

Infiniti hopes to make it onto shopping lists with advanced technology options and what it claims to be segment-leading passenger and cargo space.
A $2,200 technology option package will feature the Around View Monitor, which gives drivers a 360-degree birds'-eye view of the vehicle during parking. It will also introduce a technology Infiniti calls Backup Collision Intervention. The system will automatically engage the vehicle's brakes while backing up if sensors detect an object in its path.
