First photos from the NY show. Quality of the photos weren't great. It seems like more of the same from Subaru. There isn't really much to say from these pics, besides those old reflector styled headlights...

The hatchback version. Design wise it hasn't moved along with the times. Also..must they really place that rear indicator below the main tail light cluster like it was an afterthought. There is enough space inside the light cluster to place the indicator light there.

The engine spec is also just as underwhelming. 2.0 L, no direction injection, and mated with a CVT gearbox.

As is Subaru’s way, the new models are both all-wheel drive, while power comes from revised a 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘boxer’ horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine producing a little more grunt the model that came before it, with 114kW compared with 110kW of the old model. Expect torque to jump from 196Nm to somewhere around 200Nm, too.

According to the preliminary specifications, there will be no manual transmission version offered. Instead, the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) will be offered as standard. Fuel use is yet to be announced.

Tail lights are terrible. As Monster said, that additional lens for the indicator is such an eyesore.

No progress from Subaru in this new generation Impreza: no real progress in design - the transition of cool concept styling elements to production remain woefully diluted.

The lack of real engine development is also disappointing.

Y'know they've got that very sophisticated 1.6 DIT in the Levorg - I don't know why it isn't in the new gen Impreza...
That I didn't know, is that only for JDM? We get some pretty boring engine choices in Australia, 2.0 NA for the Impreza, 2.5 and the 3.6 for the Liberty.

Subaru's designs 5-10 years ago were much better. They have now descended to designs that look like a mishmash of Huyndai, Infiniti and Mazda.

This is still the high point of Subaru design.

Through out the past 5 years, Subaru has teased us with various good looking concept car, from the Advanced Tourer which I foolishly hoped would become the Liberty/Legacy replacement

While I am not expecting Subaru to turn these concept cars to reality, thought that BRZ STi concept will be fantastic, the design language they have been developing on these concepts for the past 4-5 years have lead to a dead end. What the hell Subaru?

Interior looks pretty good for what it is. The eye sight tech and the reverse auto braking is impressive for this class of cars.
