GT 2026 AMG GT 4-Door Vision EV

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a series of 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. While not directly replacing the SLS AMG (competing in a different segment), it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.
Gorden was trying to pay homage to the C111 but didn't quite nail it.

Is the production car you saw any better?

Technicals look promising for sure. The power density, efficiency, and practicality of charging moves the EV game forward to wider acceptance. I don’t know that i need my AMG EV to have 1,360 hp; I’d gladly take half the power for half the price at a lower tier.

The design inside and out of this concept leaves me cold. Here’s hoping for a more convenrionally beautiful production version.

850kW charging is great, but is that gonna be in the production car?
If it does indeed run at 850kW from start to finish that could recharge a 100kW battery pack in 7 mins which is nuts. Obviously it won't sustain that kind of speed, but would make a full charge probably in the order of 10-15 mins in suboptimal conditions. Which is great.

Really, they just need to fix the f#cking face, because everything else on it looks amazing I think. The front end needs to be more.... Mercedes.

The rear 3/4 view in particular looks fantastic. Yeah its not typical Mercedes, but it looks good.
Front though.... nah.

Should one be able to simply delete all of the tacky details, the missing rear window, the ridiculous hood vents, the exaggeratted rim aero, poorly resolved headlamps and taillamps from sight and mind, the fundamantally sound design of the body shell appears. In essence, the broth of the stew is tasty...and then...M-B AMG designers emptied the kitchen garbage bin into the pot.

Absolutely stupid and useless.

Cars should be more efficient , not the other way around.

Ok , give me 1000+hp , but also give me a dense battery pack , with a decent charging speed , and great efficiency.

850kW charger ? Good luck with that. There are entire streets full of houses that don't have this power available.

I am an electrical engineer , and 850kW charger is stupid as heck. The infrastructure is not ready for a pack of this chargers. It will melt the whole grid.

It's possible , of course , but the investments in that grid would outcome the benefits.

So , I call it a marketing bs

The car has 2 problems.

For an expensive six figure amg it's not shaped like a super car.

For a four door car it looks cramped inside and has the height of a coffin.

The primary mission of the GT-XX is to showcase e-mobility technology that is possible and more specifically promote the possibilities of battery/e-motor drivetrains. What the GT-XX represents may actually be an indication of an anticipated plateau, the GT-XX being a crest in the wave of rapid progress that we've witnessed over the past several years. In addition, the scope of the consumer demographic for cars such as the upcoming AMG.EA vehicles will be very limited. More important will be the eventual trickle-down effects of some elements of the tech into far more pedestrian future M-B vehicles. In addition, these sorts of cars appeal to the more affluent private customers who have residency wallboxes. 850kW chargers are a "bragging rights" sort of thing.

My 2 Euro cents.

It’s a sedan, what do want it to be shaped like?

Uhh it’s a concept. You can clearly see the production car is taller with a more realistic roofline.
