Oh it looks meeeeaaaannn

Maybe, but the current GT is more of a... er... GT, than it is a sports car.Sounds like an apology for the weak performing GT.
I think that should be obvious from the smaller passenger shell. This car has nothing to do with the current GT.
I’ll be pure as far as I know.Looks beastly! The wing on this road version looks as serious as the one on Toyota's GT3 racer.
I'm just praying this one stays pure ICE. It'd be a shame to kill the potential with heavy battery.
Not sure how are they going to do an ICE 4dr coupe at this point.I think they are going for a full AMG GT family: four door coupe (EV and ICE), 2+2 coupe and convertible (with GT and SL) and a focused two seat sports car (GT Track Sport). They can even pick up the GT R, C, Black Series tiers with this one.
I agree, but the branding is going to be difficult if they're all called Mercedes-AMG GT63 or the like. There's the GT coupe 43, 55, 63. And the GT 4-door 43, 53 and 63/S. Then eventually there will be the GT 4 door EV in its various guises. And then a GT TrackSport. It'll all get a bit confusing because all of these lines are on seemingly completely different platforms with completely different purposes.I think they are going for a full AMG GT family: four door coupe (EV and ICE), 2+2 coupe and convertible (with GT and SL) and a focused two seat sports car (GT Track Sport). Different engine sizes? Where did you hear about this?I’ll be pure as far as I know.
V8 is clear, the size of the engine might be interesting, as far as I know, there are different engine sizes on the table, with more than 4L capacity.

How will that play out, I wonder?
They can get anything from 450hp all the way to 750hp from a 4L biturbo. Quite easily too if they use the e-Turbo tech they used in the M139 and that Porsche is using with their GTS and Turbo/S.
What would the benefits of a larger displacement variant be?
I suppose that's where the e-turbo tech that Mercedes have used with the M256 and M139, and Porsche use with their 992.2 refreshed 911s, which seem to essentially eliminate turbo lag from a dig. But I guess we'll see.On the MBPassion blog one insider mentioned the possibility of a 4.7L V8.
Larger displacement with similar Power always means less turbolag.
The 4L M177 is a nice engine, but low down it’s completely dead.
I can't lie, a NA high-revving 4.7L would be delicious. Get it up to 9000rpm, and it'd be a joy (better yet, make it a V10)The problem is, they’re currently using the 6.2L V8 in the racecar.
May be this 4.7L is even high revving N/A Engine.

I mean the Twinscroll M177 with 8.6:1 compression in the G63, not the Monoscroll of the C190 GT or C63 with 10.5:1 compression.Wait what? Low down its dead? Compared to what?
Its the most responsive engine ive ever owned, instant torque at any rpm, compared to mclarens 4.0 720s, and all the VAG and BMW non v8 models
Well they have a new 4L biturbo engine in development I think. The M178 is similar, but also quite different to the M177 given their vastly different intended applications.I mean the Twinscroll M177 with 8.6:1 compression in the G63, not the Monoscroll of the C190 GT or C63 with 10.5:1 compression.
The latter is very responsive I agree.
The 4.7L M278 of the S500 is also very responsive thanks to smaller turbos and 10.5:1 compression.
I guess the problem of the current M177LS2 engine is the combination of big Turbos with a very low compression. That’s why it’s not very responsive.
