Audi AG spokespersons announced this morning that deliveries of new vehicles to the U.S. will be halted until further notice. The company has advised its U.S. dealerships to attempt to reduce inventories of unsold vehicles. The company is following JLRs decision of yesterday, in which JLR will be halting all new vehicle deliveries to the U.S.

JLR amongst other manufacturers shipped models en-masse to the US before the Tariffs were officially announced. It’s a good job The best selling models in the US for BMW and Mercedes-Benz are manufactured in the US. Now we have the first news regarding the “baby” defender.

They will still be heavily affected by the 25% tax on auto parts kicking in next month unfortunately. Can't believe this is where we are at right now.

According to automotive media reports, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner has stated that the first vehicle presenting a new corporate design paradigm under the stewardship of design chief Massimo Fraschella will be presented "soon". While no further details regarding the vehicles market segment and size were disclosed, Herr Döllner elaborated that "Audi will no longer present "concept vehicles", but "genuine new model precursors that are very, very close to the actual production vehicles THAT WILL INDEED BE PRODUCED".

IAA 2025 in Munich the possible presentation venue ?

Most likely going to be the EV TT successor.

Perfect model to make a splash with at an international stage, and both Dollner and Fraschella have mentioned wanting to work on that car.

Indeed, Audi requires the sort of "design slam dunk" that it provided on occasion in the past. Vehicles that make a genuine impact such as the C3 100/200, the UrQuattro, the original TT, the series I A5, the aluminium space framed first gen A8 and the B5 A4. "Predictable and unoffensive" will no longer suffice.

EV would be reasonable if Porsche needs a volume partner for the Boxster EV. That is if the cars can share components.

Oh another new chief of design and design idiom for Audi. 🤣 Seriously. How much talent do they want to go through?

According to automotive media innuendo and comments from alleged "Audi corporate insiders", Audi AG's problems can be attributed to "meddlng" by corporate mid-tier managers into affairs in which they cannot be considered competent. This includes design processes. Automotive industry designers are known to eventually migrate to other firms in order to embrace "new creative challenges". But with Audi AG, the instances of losing (or releasing) highly gifted designers appear especially frequent. Peter Schreyer, Freeman Thomas, J. Mays, Wolfgang Egger, Thomas Ingenlath, Marc Lichte are only a few examples.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
