Hot! Audi: What's Next?

Audi corporate talking heads promising a future "puristic, minimalistic design paradigm" under the supervision of design chief Massimo Fraschella. Audi DESPERATELY needs a "slam dunk" showcase presentation that VERY ACCURATELY reflects what the future holds.

Something like...THIS:

I'm looking forward to see what he does. The new Range Rover, RR Sport, Defender, are all great clean designs. That's what Audi desperately needs, their new cars are way too fussy.

The C9 A6 and B10 A5 present silhouettes and flank sculpturing that are elegant IMHO. The devils lie in the details of the facias, which are arguably overdone. Especially the grills. Unfortunately, Audi BEVs are all arguably "fussy". Regardless of whether A6 etron, Q6 etron or etron GT. This is especially unfortunate pertaining to the etron GT, as its proportions are pure dynamite. Superior to those of the Taycan IMHO. But a number of details simply ruin the visual experience. And the presentation of the production versions of the A6 etron was nothing less than a major letdown. The concepts were so compelling.

Yes, even the A8 is still so elegant compared to the S class and not talking about 7 series that is everything but elegant.
For now..audi design line-up is great. Bmw i still love the 3 series and X5 and hopefuly the new platform will full-fill the line up

I agree the front end is the worst part, and the side profiles are attractive but kind of generic. My only problem with this new gen of Audi side profiles is that the last 2 gens of Audi's had the sharpest creases and lines with a tiny radius, something that's not easy or cheap to do. Seems like they just went the cheap route with this gen both inside and out.

A8 elegant?

The D5 generation has, at least visually, looked very cheap and boring to me it's entire generation.

The previous D4 generation looked imposing, masculine, and luxurious comparatively.

My acquaintance that now has an RS etron GT had a facelifted D4 S8. What an absolutely amazing automobile that was.

the current A8 inside out..its more elegant than my S350
My S350 design language is not elegant is not sporty, is something in between..something that Audi is known for
The A8 interior is far superior from the lines to the materials and build
D4 like you said looked imposing and masculine not elegant. We can say the same about the current 7 series that looks like a tank, even more imposing and masculine

German motor press alluding to the possibility of an electric production-near "TT" concept being presented at the IAA in Munich. It remains unclear as to whether this concept will actually be a 2 seater coupe/roadster or something larger that will be a 2+2, perhaps even with 4 doors. In any event, the vehicle will be the first public presentation of the new, Massimo Fraschetta supervised, Audi design paradigm.

Based off the upcoming Cayman I guess?

Yeah, 983 Cayman.

Still don't see how this is gonna go well for Audi, outgoing TT was not selling as well as it used to be. Going for full EV for a sports car, even with it's more exotic Cayman-based underpinnings, is a recipe for failure imo.

Unless they've adapted this platform to now support ICE too.. rebirth of the canned R5 project?

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
