M5 BMW M5 & M5 Touring G90/G99 VIDEO Thread

The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production (1995 to 1998, 2023 to 2024). Official website: BMW M
Some negative comments on the reviews I have seen about the new M5:
-The new car is big and very heavy and feels it on the road especially in sharp corners and under breaking.
-The steering lacks feel although it is precise.
-The gearbox sometimes is jerky
- The styling has mixed reactions
- it is not as sharp or responsive in corners as the previous M5 models.
- it's slower in acceleration than the previous M5.
- too many drivetrain selection options or modes
- strange rear axle behaviour under hard start up acceleration

But also alot of positives:
- the powertrain is very powerful and the car is very fast point to point
- the chassis provides loads of grip and is flat in corners
- the ride is comfortable over most surfaces
- the seats are comfortable and supportive
- in the UK the car seems good value for money although still expensive
- positive comments about the interior and infotainment system
- hybrid electric battery range of about 65km and silent low speed running
- car is very refined with low noise levels
- engine makes good noises on the outside and provides huge shove.

Reviews seems ass. To bad they ruined a legendary car.
Unfortunately I have to agree... to some extent.
I would like to see the fines/money it would have cost BMW, if they had done a pure ICE/S68 version of that M5. With the G60 series base, plus rear wheel steering plus EU7 related additional filtering/catalytic converters ... it would have been 50-100 kg heavier anyways ... but still ...

Edit: F90 M5 CS was the all-time high/pinnacle for me. Happy people, who own one.

So the real head scratcher for me is how is the M5 as heavy as the Cayenne Turbo e-hybrid? I think there is like 25kg between them and the Cayenne has the better power train? Someone please explain that to me.

First races between the new m5 and it's predecessor (the race start at 6+ minute mark)

Just under 700hp but AT the wheels. I believe the first dyno measured hybrid.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany. Official website: BMW M
