EVO: BMW M5 v Panamera S v E63 AMG v Jaguar XFR

I haven't seen any 0-200km/h for the S8 yet. I think it would be several tenth behind the bemmer though. The M5 is 200 plus lbs lighter than the S8,correct?

It won't be close to the M5 IMO, maybe 15-16 seconds (0-200 km/h).

Speaking about RS6. A guy from a swedish board claim he have inside info about RS6. More than 600 hp standard but a performance package will be available to give another 100 extra horsepower. Also ceramic brakes is included in the base price. What do you Audi supporters think, any truth in this?

600 horses maybe, but I'm thinking less since there would be a drop in weight, another 100 horses for a pp is very doubtful. I expect ceramic brakes as an option not standard.

700 HP ? Isn't this a bit over the top ? Why not investing more and try to reduce weight and optimize power transmission to soil.

552 vs. 503 vs. 394 bhp
bmw must be really proud
if it didn't have a head start it would have been neck and neck with the merc both having identical power
panny went second, merc third and the poor jag started last
I guess it's alright for bmw to cost 15k over the jag but it's not ok for panny turbo to cost 15k over bmw, I wonder why?
on second thoughts I bet porsche is saving its high end model for some serious competition (rs6) which is why they send a child to do a mans job

I was one of those who thought the new M5 wouldn't be quicker around the track or faster in acceleration than E63 PP. I stand corrected, I guess.

You should learn to subtract before you post, I assure you it is not as hard as it seems.

In UK, the difference in base prices between M5 and XFR is £7690 (£73040 − £65350). The difference in base price between Panamera Turbo and M5 is £30767 (£103807 - £73040). Yes, you read that right, it is 7k and 30k, not even remotely close to 15k and 15k like you claim. Heck, even the Panamera S is more expensive than M5 by almost same margin M5 is over XFR (£5k).

And yes Porsche is saving Panamera Turbo for for RS6, that is why there is already been a bunch of comparisons between M5 and Turbo S.

On the other hand, don't you love how M winning a comparison makes some froth at the mouth and temporarliy loose even the most basic mental aptitude to make a remotely sensible post.

The most amazing thing is that BMW & MB seem to have done a better job than Porsche being a reworked family sedan other than a performance oriented car from the beginning with extremely low COG for a sedan. Good job BMW M.

I bet you are happy that you are selling your Panamera :D

+1. The 600hp is possible but only if it's required to out do the M5 which might be the case since its Quattro against RWD but I personally believe this time it will actually weigh less than the M5, not much but less. A power package is doubtful to start with though an RS6plus could still happen before production ends.

Think 14 seconds or maybe 15 at a push but no way will it take 16.

Yes man, its not the car, stupid dealers + Porsche policies. M5 is really value for my money.

BTW still didn't decide white or blue, I want blue and thanks to Sunny, now I think sakhir red/orange is PIMP :D

But I hate Alu, I will go with Piano.

Looks pretty hard for you. 83-68k (as tested)

Tested yes but the base price is what matters since not everyone want to pay tons of extra cash to get every single option available. Stop being a hater and wait for your beloved RS6 instead. EVO wanted all cars to cost less than 100k thats why they didnt include Turbo version, simply as that.

I always thought it would be close but to be less than 1 mph apart after 1000m just shows how close a race it ended up.

P.S.
q5s, you can't be serious. It's debateable whether the RS6 when it arrives will be any quicker and the wrong Porsche was there because never in a month of Sundays would it have ever finish anywhere other than last in this test. I just wishes the Panny Turbo S had been there to have given the M5 some stiffer competition because until it draws blood against it the M5 will never be regarded as king of the hill. I'm a big fan of the XFR after having an XF but I've a new favourite for now and it's got one letter and one number in its name.

And you know for a fact that is the criteria Evo uses and not base price? And how do you how much a Panamera Turbo would cost 'as tested' to make a fair oranges to oranges comparison? 'Price as tested' can be anything depending on whatever options the press cars happen to have most of which probably have nothing to do with performance as is the case with M5. Take a base M5 and the result would have been exactly the same. Seriously man, use a little common sense before posting.

lol, and yea I love Piano black too. :D

As far as I am aware 'tested price' is never used to match off cars only the base price. Added goodies are a burden as they add weight and usually dull performance which is why I only question why some press cars come loaded to the gills with kit.
