Audi Q7 Facelift (2019): Erste Informationen | autozeitung.de

I think we might have to wait to see what the SQ8 has in stores, I believe this vehicle will be the stepping stone of what we will see in the facelift SQ7.

But dear god I hope it does not adopt the Q8 face

Bigger gas tank? It's already 75L

I doubt it will. The Q7 is a car for conservative people. At most I expect new DLR and subtle updates to the bumper and grille. Audi rarely does big facelifts and they will want to hold back creativity back for the 3rd generation Q7. Just look at the A4 facelift. It is bare minimum.

Audi Prepping Facelift 2020 Q7 With New Grille And Headlights
It looks like Audi is doing the exact same thing with this second-generation Q7 as they did with the original, which is not to mess too much with its exterior styling.

Then again, that’s perfectly understandable since the automaker’s main focus is to bring their large SUV up to speed with the latest in connectivity and driver-assistance systems so as to give it a proper fighting chance against the likes of BMW’s all-new X5 or Mercedes‘ latest GLE.

What’s different about it?

For starters, the design of the grille has been updated in a way where it now looks a little bit less like the SUV is wearing a mask. The grille (visibly smaller) is now a little more flush with the headlights, which have also been slightly redesigned to feature a downwards kink, sort of like the ones on the all-new Q3, albeit not that exaggerated.
At the rear, the SUV is still wearing its old taillights, but we expect that to change sometime in the future, as more production-ready prototypes will take to the streets.

The interior, while visible through the windows, is heavily camouflaged, which means that changes are coming inside as well. Still, it’s a little unlikely that Audi will do a full dashboard swap and install something like in the Q8. Odds are, interior upgrades will be similar to those received by the A4 facelift, which means a new steering wheel, new software, better materials, that sort of thing. We wouldn’t mind being wrong though.

As for any powertrain upgrades, no official info has surfaced as of yet, although we expect any future iteration of the Q7 to be more fuel efficient and also kinder to the environment, compared to the current model.

Audi will probably unveil their refreshed signature large SUV sometime next year, sending it out to battle the likes of the X5, GLE, XC90, Range Rover Sport and so on.

Just a subtle change to the head lights. I was hoping for more but perhaps Audi are holding some creativity back for the 2nd generation Q7.

Brawny 2020 Audi SQ7 Comes Out Of Hiding As Well
Facelifted 2020 Audi Q7, which we will now follow up with a bunch of pics showing the SQ7 flagship.

The diesel-powered performance SUV is making its spy photo debut carrying predictable updates. As with the regular Q7, it sports new headlights with a different shape than before. To distinguish it from the lesser model, Audi has given the SQ7 a unique DRL signature that also integrates the dynamic turn signal function.

The SQ7 prototype also boasts a new grille and a more aggressive front bumper design featuring larger air intakes. The camouflage foil applied to the sides suggests Audi will update the side skirts and fenders as well.

At the rear, the most noticeable change is the switch from squared quad exhausts to round tailpipes. That’s in line with the look of newer S-badged models from Audi’s stable. The rear bumper also appears to go through a makeover, but the taillights are still the old ones. However, they’re likely to be replaced by updated units as testing moves on.

For now, we have no information regarding any engine tweaks. The truth is the SQ7hardly needs them, since its 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo diesel unit already delivers 435 PS (429 hp) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. Linked to an eight-speed auto and quattro AWD, the V8 propels the big SUV from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, and on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

It does all that with no interruptions, thanks to a 48-volt mild hybrid system feeding an electric compressor that virtually eliminates turbo lag. To top it all off, the SQ7’s combined fuel economy is NEDC-estimated at 7.4 l/100 km (31.8 mpg US).

Why should AUDI bother? The A8 almost doesn't sell, so nobody on the streets can see how bland it is.

The D4 had a pretty significant facelift -it went from having having a predator front and B8 A4 rear to a more regal look. Boosted sales quite a bit among it’s conservative clientele.

What works in the Q7s favour regardless of whether the new Audi's makes it look dates, is the ride quality.

In that category it's the car to beat. No other SUV except its VAG cousins is as smooth and in control of its weight. This along with the generous interior space is why it's a very well received car both by journalists and customers.

The old MMI on the other hand is terribly outdated and even Android Auto and CarPlay are unintuitive on the dashboard screen.

Please.
What are you even comparing it to? The old X5 and old GLE?

I am comparing it to any SUV currently available. Its ride is simply serene.

We have to wait and see what journalists say about the new GLE. The new X5 has been reviewed but is at a disadvantage because it only has single chamber air suspension. Audi will likely improve on the ride further by equipping it with the new three chamber air suspension used in the Bentayga, Cayenne and Continental GT.

Suspension in SUVs is currently one of VAGs biggest strength.

Even the Q5 has self levelling air suspension which also lowers the car on motorways. The X3 doesn’t offer it and the GLC’s air suspension isn’t as sophisticated or effective in minimising float.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
