GMA Gordon Murray's T50 hypercar

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) is a British automobile manufacturer of sports cars based in Shalford, Surrey, England. This car isn't about performance numbers. Gordon said so from the beginning:

"I have absolutely no interest in chasing records for top speed or acceleration. Just as with the F1, we have no specific targets for those. Our focus is instead on delivering the purest, most rewarding driving experience of any supercar ever built."

Yeah. In fairness I was responding to the suggestion that it might be the closest hypercar to the to the Valkyrie, not that it was attempting to do the same thing.

Even if he wanted to chase records, he doesn't have the budgets of the big players to compete for every extra tenth.

Performance and driving enjoyment are not directly proportional. Murray understands that better than most. The F1's incredible performance was a byproduct of its focus on driving enjoyment, not the other way around.

Sooooooo the Caterham of hyper cars?

Even if he wanted to chase records, he doesn't have the budgets of the big players to compete for every extra tenth.

Neither does Koenigsegg, Pagani and several companies in the US who are chasing big numbers, what he does have is his genius, the mans a design god, his name, talent and resume could get him the budget if he wanted it.

it does lack the 1:1 power-to-weight ratio and instant torque from electrical engines, not to mention that the gearbox will be manual

it does have the advantage of suction, but we don't know how far that'll take it

In an interview I read he was going to do a dual clutch gearbox but the punters plonking down the cash wanted manual. Most of the people who have ordered one also own an F1, we should consider this a modern F1, which appears to be what his customers want.

Looks great, has some McLaren F1 styling cues.

Since most of the buyers are already F1 owners and Murray has been saying this is the first true successor to the F1 looking like a modernised F1 is going to be the name of the game.

Mclaren F1 spiritual successor that looks like Ferrari at rear :) But, F1 also had quad round lights as Ferrari so ok.

I know this is a section from only one part of the car, and I know there's some artistic license going on, but I'd expected the fan to make more of a difference. To my eye, it looks as though this graphic doesn't depict high pressure zones over a certain base level (red), with lower pressures going from red through green to blue*, so perhaps it's not showing as much as it could.

*I am colour blind AF though.

Edit:
I suppose at 150mph, the air pressure differential due to the fan would be a lot less than at lower speeds, perhaps?

I agree I'm not sure if this fan is worth the effort. This is Marketing material and I expected more from the aero pics. I'd expect that Murray chose the best pictures to show the effect so 150 mph must be that perfect speed.

I think for Murray the fan is unfinished business, he wants to prove its effective and this is the project to make that happen.

The T.50 probably doesn't need it but it's now its USP.

First picture of Murray's T.50!

That looks fantastic, a bit Ferrari-sh but still having Mclaren F1 genes. Its probably going to re-write the rule book on downforce figures for road cars. Its not going to be the top speed or standing start acceleration king, but for driving thrills around a track this will maybe set new benchmarks.
