Mini road trip with my son today. She a comfortable car for a long drive. Driving up Trollstigen not a problem, driving down you are reminded how big and heavy it is. I’m sure I caught a whiff of stinky brakes at the bottom. before heading home the car recommended a 6 minute splash and dash of hydro juice.

Hydrogen is coming, it’s just taking a little longer.

Yip it does have single pedal driving. Even if you turn it off braking is blended, regen first then the brakes if you have to stand on them.

Put my winter tires on today. What a difference it makes to how the car looks, still rides nicely as well.

Bit of a road trip today. It started out cold, got much colder fairly quickly. Some interesting landscapes, completely different from the usual mountains and Fjords. the iX looking snappy in the cold, same

interesting landscape ruined by unnecessary (for Norway) wind turbines.

The headlights still impress. Can’t believe BMW are dropping the Laser units???

I wasn't aware that any car without autonomous driving has this feature. Very neat!

I’m still in shock at the A8 we had as a rental in Munich… along with keeping in the lane it would read road signs and slow down or pick up speed… what blew my mind was how it slowed down for corners and then sped up. I expect that feature to hit the states around 2099. Thanks NHTSA!!!

The iX also reads road signs and will slow down for corners and speed up after.

The blue one is an MSport, it has a panorama roof, massage seats and ID 8.5

Q2, but I'm impulsive, it was a good deal, the new 40 model will also be a lot more expensive. I don't need the additional range and I like the existing seats and steering wheel design.

I probably shouldn't have bought it but you know shit happens. I also had to promise my wife I wouldn't change it for 5 years.

The winter tires are quiet, they are only loud if you have spikes, I don't need spikes where I live, since they are 20" the ride is more compliant and comfortable. The summer tires are 22's. The 22 is the most efficient wheel for the iX, it have more range than the 20 and 21 in the wltp tests, that's a bit of a head scratcher IMO.

It's been snowing far too much over the past week, the 235/60 20" winter tyres are significantly better than the 275/50 21" winter tyres I had on the previous car, less tram lining, less slip in snow, and they are more comfortable. This time around I (sensibly) went for improved winter performance over better looking wheels.

I wish i could buy winter tyres for added peace of mind. However, storing them is a hassle.

Most of the tire shops and car dealers in Norway have tyre hotels, I now use them, I used to store them in the garage but 2 sets takes up a lot of space.

All cleaned up and ready for a family road trip tomorrow. Summer tires on, the alloys have grown on me. I thought it would be worse in the 22’s than the previous one on 21’s but it appears the opposite is true. Its consistently meeting WLTP this summer .
