The new GX 550 has leaked!

Taking on a more off-road oriented direction to take on the Defender head on and powered by the torquey 3.4 TTV6. Full reveal coming later tonight!

Might I say, this looks f#cking awesome!

Boxy profile reminiscent of the 70-Series Land Cruiser, properly flared fenders, smaller spindle grille, and good breakover angles for off roading. Those cross-shopping a Defender for luxury-offroad expeditions now have a proper competitor under Lexus!

I just bought a LC300, I’m now upset 😂.

But seriously, what a great looking truck with Lexus/Toyota build quality, what a winner and a departure from the old GX/Prado.

Well done Lexus/Toyota!

This is Lexus' G. Serious off roading equipment package is now available.

As a GX, I am very much digging this. Interior seems to have a lot of hard plastics.

However, if this portends to the what the upcoming 4Runner is going to be, I am not so sure. It seems too wide and squat to be a 4Runner. I'd prefer that to be more Taco-based than GX-based. Then again, this is probably what a 4Runner buyer may want.

Looks amazing and proper as a Defender competitor. Huge improvement over the previous relic as Merc1 said.

Carmaker1 insider has stated on other forums the 4Runner will be following a more evolutionary design to the current model like the Tacoma, while the US-oriented Land Cruiser will essentially be a more retro styled GX/Prado.

I like the design change compared to the previous one, although it's a bit crazy, is it the first Lexus "Jeep" oriented full design?
As much as I like it, something is missing, at least for now in my eyes it does not reach a Defender or a G-Class, which I think was the intention.

Well had zero clue about obviously other stuff came up, complete suprise! What a machine though. I'll watch the stuff later. It's good to see Lexus in the News again.🙂

For quite some time Lexus is notorious for dragging their feet when it comes to jumping on trends that could mint them money. A good example is only now they are debuting a 3-row crossover in the form of the TX. However, they too are late with capitalizing with the harder-core off-road crowd (Wrangler, Bronco, Defender, etc.)...but not too late in this case. I think since the outgoing archaic GX is a darling with the overlanding folks, they really dug into it with this GX. It really looks like their Defender while the LX is their Range Rover.
