Z Series [Hot!] New 2019 BMW Z4 M40i Images Leaked

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.

Only 340 hp? I was expecting 370-380.

The rear is perfection. While the front is a touch cute, I can live with it. My opinion on the SE/Sport spec will be very different though.

It seems 380 Hp is for USA, Europe get less due to C02 regulation.

Focus.de link is dead...

And it seems that the sketches Scott27 kindly posted refers to a special edition "Z4 1st Edition". Can't wait the full reveal of that car, maybe the last 2 seaters roadster from BMW purely with a petrol engine. If the M40i sounds as good as my X4 m40i after 110 000km that will be a hit. :D

Delayed revenge for the E36 M3

however this info I found, sounds very strange. o_O. Bringing 2 power versions of the same m40i model on the market, may kill the european sales. Customer may try to order cars from USA. Or the 380 hp refer to the special First Edition. ?!

How much time do we have to wait until the full reveal?

Does it mean that in Europe the regulations are already stricter than in the USA? This has to do something with the new fuel consumption standard. Anyway it doesn't look good that they are not able to cover the requirements with their new M40i engine. What about the X3? Does it get the 380 hp version for Europe and if yes how they can do it with it but can not do it with the Z4

Well if you look take a look on the markets here in Europe, the X3 (G01) M40i was introduced with 360hp. But the new X4 M40i with the same engine developps less horsepower: 354HP. The X4 (G02) M40i was delayed on the markets, And I believe this was the consequence of the new way of testing the cars in Europe. And the addition of the introduction of a new filter in the exaust system, which was more difficult as excepted. M550i seems to have same issues, and now the engines will be replaced the one of the new 8 serie.

380HP on X3/X4 M40i are supposed to be introduced in Europe too, on MY 2020 models, which SOP is August 2019. Idrive 7.0 might be added too.

BACK TO Z4, where are the pictures ????

So my former car, the most fun car I ever had, the Z4M Coupe will stil remain the most powerful Z4 ever with 343PS, although it's already 12 years old!?

Hopefully we will see different colors on the Z4 when the official pictures are released later today. That red color with the black accents and wheels don't do the car any favors. Even in the pre-release test drives, a lot of the reviewers saw the undisguised car and said that it looked great in some colors and not so good in others.

1 out of a million will do that. But BMW is not going to sell a million of these with that fugly snout.

What a disaster, LOL.
I am expecting something similarly poor for the new 1er

Of course not.
This 380 hp version is the first ever BMW I6 with that power point.

It's the bonnet line isn't it?

I like it quite well overall, but for the life of me I can't understand why BMW can't design a simple and elegant front bumper.

Mostly. And the inside of the grille looks just as stupid as those diamond grilles on MBs.

I've come to terms with the bonnet/hood shutline, though I do wonder if they could do what was done on the 8er, which might be similar in concept, why not the Z4. That's what leads me to now suspect that while pedestrian impact regulations played a significant role, I also think that 1) costs and 2) finding a compromised solution with Toyota played key factors as well.

I am also not a fan of the internal grille graphics. If they didn't do the traditional slats, I'd prefer a mesh-like pattern. Again, I suspect aerodynamic and fuel conservation plays a role here and possibly pedestrian impact as well.

No, what is still cheesing me off right now is that dang reverse light. It's been posited that it might be a foglight, but with more pics, that looks like a dang reverse light on the diffuser. C'mon!

The back is terrific, the side profile is - shall we say - acceptably interesting but (and it must be said that I really do like BMWs) the front is just off, for me personally.
That wacky grille mesh is awful - give us the vertical slats FFS. Also the headlights are just not doing it for me either right now. Maybe I need to see 'em in the flesh.

All in all, a massive commitment from BMW's part to what is said to be a dwindling segment, only to be handicapped at the off with less-than-epic styling. Can't say I feel as enthused about this as I'd been with the 8 Series.

Shite, I'd still have one though.
