Astra [Hot!] Opel/Vauxhall Astra

The Opel Astra is a compact car/small family car (C-segment) developed and produced by the Opel since 1991. It was first launched in September 1991 as a direct replacement to the Opel Kadett. As of 2025, the car slots between the smaller Corsa supermini and the larger Frontera subcompact crossover SUV.

Might be pushing it but taillights are so similar to the Golfs. And I might be the only one but I'm not a fan of the new Opel design language. I'm all for boxy and retro looking cars but eh looks off to me. I dig the side profile and wheels a lot though.

If you put the VW badge on it. In some case none would be the wiser.

Wow this is a huge standout from Opel/Vauxhall, I like this new look very much. It looks a bit concept car-like in the front as well as with the 2tone black roof. The interior is hugely impressive, I dig that wrap-around infotainment and driver's screens and minimalist look.

Dare I say this, but I think inside and out this Astra is much more stylish than the Golf 8 and Focus and possibly any other non premium hatch in this class.

The front is really what makes this car so different from anything else in this class. It really is a bold move by Opel/Vauxhall. I like it a lot.

I'm appreciating this car more and more. A clean, modern and sustainable design language that will remain fresh for quite some time. Opel/Vauxhall (hence Stellantis) may have a major hit on its' hands, especially should the fully electric version quickly follow.

I beleive that Opel announced that this Astra will have only a hybrid an no EV.

I had an Astra once and the most interesting thing I can say about it is that it didn't come with a CD player despite being the "luxurious" CD version.

In fact, it didn't come with any stereo at all. I had to install an aftermarket CD-player from Pioneer.

I rented an Astra once, and put 5,000 miles on clock driving round the edge of mainland Great Britain.

It was not a great car... but I did come to love it.
