Agera Koenigsegg Agera

The Koenigsegg Agera is a mid-engine sports car produced by Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg. It is a successor to the CCX/CCXR. The name comes from the Swedish verb 'agera' which means "to act" or in imperative form "(You) act".
^Having watched that video, I can't help but think that the Regera might be the best-built Koenigsegg to date, it looks pretty well sorted (much better than the Agera), so kudos to them.

That said, those door sills are HUGE!!! I mean, I know rigidity of the monocoque is important, but isn't that a little too much?

R&D costs for an all new monocoque would probably bankrupt the company at this point in time.

Whatever it is, it isn't a good look at all.

I am amazed that the car was up and running in a few hours, that surely looked like it needed more than a quick fix

Believe or not, Geneva's mayor sanctioned a "Koenigsegg parade" so they were parading around the city with the doors open and revving. On top of that, this Agera ML was seen drifting in the Alps in the middle of a snow storm.

They had plenty of employees on hand to avoid yet another PR disaster

Sounds like a very expensive solution to have a large amount of your small workforce fly over to Switzerlend/Italy etc and escort around customers' cars 24/7....

Speaking of PR disasters of Koenigsegg though, apart from the L4P dude flipping s**t on the forums a few years back, I do not know of any, what are you referring to specifically?

I know it is a small company and all that, but anyone in the know how they are faring financially? Surely they aren't making mad profits but are they at least keeping it on the black?

Their inability to pass US emissions tests after all these years, abysmal build quality before the Agera, and their (lack of) willingness to allow independent testing to verify performance claims.

There's also the story of a Qatari prince being unhappy with the quality of his turquoise CCXR "Special One"; it's been on sale since 2012, probably due to the loud color combination.

PH thread with prospective clientele speaking about various shortcomings, which they say has kept desirability low, despite the brand building and selling one of the fastest cars on earth.

The original chassis development prototype ('95-'96) it took CvK a number of years to complete R&D - and it was their most expensive investment.

Speaking of which, has Koenigsegg managed to get official permission to import and sell their cars to the US? They have been saying this for years now.

But they are selling cars in the US already, how come?

They've been selling Ageras to US clients for a while now, most notably to "BC" when they had the whole online fiasco - they (Koenigsegg) have told clients that in due time it would be US street legal, but it haven't been able to pass testing. Therefore, the cars originally intended for the U.S now have European or Arab plates.

Any and all Kseggs in the U.S are either here temporarily with expatriate owners like the Agera HH or they are titled "show and display", which means a vehicle in question is deemed to meet a standard of "historical or technological significance". Under this exemption, the owner is only permitted to transport the car to events and authorities effectively keep close surveillance.

Had they really become legal, sales would've doubled and the likes of LamborghiniKS would be parading up and down Ocean Ave in South Beach whilst conducting live Instagram discussions.

Factory test driver lost control before testing was completed. Looks like Manny handled the situation like a champ.

Man, the bad luck this company has had over the years..

Classy response by MK, unlike that guy from L4P back in the day who threw a hissy fit...

The funny thing is I know BC personally and he's one of the most down to earth hypercar owner/collector I know. He and Rob of "superspeedersrob" fame (another local) are genuinely good people from my interactions with them.

Either the L4P fiasco was his pissed off internet persona or he's matured a bit since then. That being said, Koenigsegg was caught red-handed conducting some unsavory practices at the time and subsequently overhauled quality management and customer service.

...km/h...Bugatti Chiron ---- Koenigsegg Agera RS
...0-400:
32,6s -------------- 26,88s
...400-0: 9,36s @ 491m ------ 9,56s @ 483m
0-400-0: 41,96s @ 3.112m --- 36,44s @ 2.441m

Now Bugatti looks silly for all the over-the-top bragging, 0-400-0 decals, press conferences, etc. they did last month.

I guess a top speed figure is all the (standard) Chiron has in terms of breaking new ground performance-wise. They didn't address it's biggest enemy.. weight, which plays into Koenigsegg's favor.
