I hate Zonda, Maser & Ferrari, but adore the 'Vette, Viper and GT-R....

At the end, my king of the ring would be the 'Vette.:usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

Eh, none of these cars on the list really do anything for me... cars like the Ferrari F40, McLaren F1 or CGT have a place in my heart while these cars will come and go

The best cars in the world?
ok from that point of view..you can add alot of cars..
but yeah it doesent fit in here with the rest..
Okay it might ( and thats a BIG might) have the speed to match...
But there is sooooo much more to those other cars which the GTR lacks..

PS
Viper sucks though

And why does the Viper suck? Just because you say so? If you look at the title, this particular Viper is a monster.

I find it hilarious how it's always the same people (Martin, me, Monster...) that are stuck defending the GT-R. Funny how it's "us" peeps from Asia and Africa having to explain why the GT-R is such a tremendous car. We are minorities after all I guess :D

When the GT-R rumours first surfaced along with it's pricing, people deemed it fit to compare this car to a category that belongs to the M3, C63 and those types of cars. Then it went on to annihalate the 911 Carreras...Now it is being compared to proper supercars such as 599's, GT2 and 3's... The GT-R just kept moving up in ranks until it was innevitable that it was compared to something that it wasn't meant to compete against in the first place.

While cars like the GT-R, ZR1 and ACR's will never be able to match the emotions of a Ferrari or Porsche, you just cannot deny that the fact that they can hold their own (if not surpass) in terms of performance is nothing short but extraordinary. I will buy these engineers are round of drinks just because their cars are mentioned with some of the BEST cars out there today.

If you think that M3, RS5, (insert up and coming sports car in this price range) engineers aren't looking at Nissan with these looks: :eusa_thin,:t-hands:,, then you are kidding yourselves.

Umm yeah i said its fast..and respect for that..
But its like martin said..
Its just that..an amazing achivement in technology..

PS
And by saying the viper sucks..i meant its like the GT-R ..little to no soul..

In terms of looks, yes it might not have that much soul, although I do think it's great. However, in this thread, that's COMPLETELY irrelevant. And technology? What technology? The ACR is pretty much as bare bones as it gets and should almost be considered a race car.

Look at the thread title... this is all about performance and ring times, not what car will get you laid driving downtown. The car did a 7:22 at the Ring... enough said.

You know what, I've always though Viper's were awesome. I'm going to pick the ACR.

Did I mention this car is about $100k? :D

^yeah and thats why you see this poll result..
where ppl despite you claiming that its all about lap times..
Did not vote for the fastest car..

I see where they are going with it, which doesn't really make sense, but I understand. I've always liked the Viper (ever since it was on Need for speed 1, hehe) so it wasn't a problem for me to pick the ACR. Like in other threads, while I always defend the GT-R, there's no way in hell I'd pick that over the GT-2, haha. But if it's sheer speed, track times, those 3 underdogs win imo.

I find it hilarious how some of these cars went against Italy's absolute best of the best. Hell, Ferrari liked their car so much that they named it after the company's creator.

And then comes along a Datsun...

^yeah but datsun came 5 years later..
Dont forget that the Enzo/MC12 is 5 years old
and that the Zonda is nearly 10 years old..
viper, chevy and nissan are brand new.. :D

Haha true, but:

How long did it take for people to catch the McLaren F1? Way more than 5 years
How long is it going to take for cars company to catch the GT-R? Who knows? But it sure as hell woke people up. And that's why it has indeed re-written the rules.

I very much doubt that Ferrari guys' pride and joy Enzo figured that their car would be almost redundant in only 5 years when they stuffed it with every technology possible. There's no way anyone ever imagined the GT-R would cause this much ruckus.

^i dont think they thought that their upcoming scuderia would be faster around Fiorano than the Enzo either..
but with todays tech.. things move very fast..
It really does depend on the track. If I am not mistaken the F430 Scuderia lapped the Ring at 7:40 sec, or faster? But the Enzo did it in 7:25.

Wheels Magazine recently did a test between the GT2 and the GTR, and the GTR lapped the test track 1.6 sec faster than the GT2. However in tests from other magazines, the GT2 has recorded a faster lap time than the GTR on an entirely different track.
