It may come as little surprise that Ron Dennis, chairman and head of McLaren supercars, had been caught speeding several times before he was recently nabbed running a red light, but his punishment might seem a bit harsh.
Dennis recently met his match when facing Woking magistrates when he was slapped with a $566 fine and the loss of his driver’s license completely for six months, according to the U.K.’s Mirror. The ruling was delivered despite hearing Dennis’ plea to retain his license so he could visit his children on weekends, was denied the right to keep his license. “I really need my license, ” pleaded Dennis.
The punishment came after Dennis managed to get caught running a red light, and he previously had racked up nine points on his record as well. As a result of the culmination of points, the auto chief lost his driving freedom just as the new McLaren MP4-12C supercar was set to take to the public streets.
