Sadly nothing was revealed at Car Week, but at least the Artura LT prototype got spotted.

The design featured in the illustrations is simply superb. Not unsimilar to that of the Xiaomi YU7, but more sophisticated and elegant.

If it looks like this it will be one of the most beautiful looking SUV's around. Simply stunning design. McLaren will be getting plenty of sales and with a new replacement for the 750S will give Ferrari and Lamborghini some serious competition.

I can't wait to see McLaren's SUV. SUVs are practically cash cows for brands these days. There's no reason a niche brand like McLaren shouldn't attract significant attention with an SUV with over 800 horsepower and sell thousands of units annually. I'm really looking forward to it.

I know it was very much odd for Ferrari to venture into the crossover field, but at least there was a bit of a ramp-up: 456GT --> 612S --> FF/GTC4Lusso --> Purosangue. Lambo had the LM002. Porsche had their rallying. A-M's M.O. is grand touring.

With McLaren, a SUV/CUV thing is such a jump in the deep-end. Everything they've ever done is at odds with this kind of format. They've never done a car that could hold more than 3 passengers. Save for the collab with Merc-AMG that yielded the SLR, virtually every car has been rear mid-engine. They have no pedigree in any off-road competition. I really do wonder if the incredibly well-heeled public will really respond to this in large enough numbers that would even be sufficient to keep them afloat. Very skeptical, I am.

With the exception of 3 seats your could remove McLaren and replace it with Ferrari. The Purosangue was also a leap into the deep end, it's apparently paid off well for them.

In 2025 most customers are less likely to ask “why are you making an suv” and more likely to ask “what took you so long?”.

An SUV is to car manufacturers what a hamburger is to a restaurant. Introduce one to your product portfolio and revenue will grow by at least 25% and will make financial projections more reliable.

I've always wondered what a massively bloated over weight 675 on stilts would look like.
McLaren design language is due a refresh. The 650s and 720s design language have been milked to death. W1 looks nice but in a technical and surgical way. Remove the logo, show it to people and they wouldn’t know who the manufacturer is or what the country of origin is.
