But before I leave this thread I will just say this:
Guns don't kill people and vehicles don't mow people, evil people kill innocent people and they will not follow strict gun rules. Evil people will use whatever they get their hands on to kill other people, knives and vehicles, for example. So objects are not the problem, but evil people are. And while you may not like guns, you cannot ask for the government to ban guns disrespecting the freedom of people who like guns, that's called tyranny. The second amendment guarantee Americans the right to defend themselves from tyranny.
God bless the USA and my thoughts and prayers to the victims of this terrible tragedy.

Evil people are not restricted by national borders. We have them in Europe too. London has a knife problem. I dread to think what it would be like if we had relaxed gun laws. British police don't even carry guns.
The simple fact is, a semi-automatic gun makes it very easy to kill a lot of people in a very short amount of time. There is absolutely no justification for them.

Funny thing is that you often get sneak peaks into those minds that really should keep their cards close to their chests given the bullshit they believe in.
The cycle is coming full circle In the last decade I've felt gradually that hate is increasing, hell I'm born in sweden and I'm a Muslim never felt uneasy.. but it's creeping up slowly.
It's been to long since a shit load of people died in a war.. so retarded human beings that never learn from history have had their time gaining momentum.

If there is something I am beginning to learn with age is that people will always have diverse views. The older we get the more most of us become rigid on certain issues, and unbelievable fluid on others. Funny thing is everyone one of us think we are right.
For me the key is to understand where people are coming from.
In every intellectual exercise(debate) I try to understand where the other person is coming from- does not necessarily mean I will agree with them. I don't even agree with with my wife on everything.
Trust me, I cherish diversity on views etc, but I am a firm believer in a united vision as well.
The task that our current generation of leadership has failed to grasp is how to harness that strength in diversity to form a robust and united community with a common vision: organizations, businesses, societies,countries.
We are not going to solve any of these challenges here, but shutting down debate is not a good idea, however I do understand that debates need to be healthy. Avoiding personal attacks is a good start.
Something I have learned here is that our sensitivities are different depending on our geographical spreads. Some of us will say things that may come across as crass or lacking in Nouse to others because of our diverse background, perhaps a bit of perspective might help in softening the blow.
In my humble opinion, this debate thread is good, it has given us an opportunity to understand the other side of people better. But for this to be the case, we need to also avoid the personal attacks. I think we can point out our disagreements and state why we vehemently disagree with that person.

Oh dear, somebody on the internet called you an "idiot" did they? Well, let me remind you of your contributions to this thread. *MOST* of these were completely unprovoked and were in response to people just stating their opinion...
In response to me saying the NFL players have every right to protest...
I've not even included several other posts where you talk about Mexicans and Muslims in a way which is quite disgusting.
There are times, such as when discussing whether groups of people who share a similar trait or characteristic are being discriminated against, when it is actually apt to call someone a racist... it's not always just a counter-insult.
... but like I said, I doubt this thread exists to debate Betty or Kowalski, it exists for us to debate issues, and there is precisely zero need for insults when doing so. Nobody is going up in anyone else's estimations by gaining the ethical, moral, logical or factual high ground, unless it's done so in a respectful fashion. Having to resort to riling the opposition to throw their argument off balance is normally a sign that your own argument has run out of steam (and I aim that at everyone (even me!)), if I wanted to see that, I'd watch BBC Parliament - which I don't!
