Cayenne MY22 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT

The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV, and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle.
I love the Cayenne Coupe but I hardly believe that this car, being >700 kg heavier than a 992 Turbo S, will deliver a comparable feeling...

Its better. It sounds better. The suspension is much better. The turbo S is too bouncy over pavement. There’s too much vertical travel in the suspension arms. And I’m certain I can take corners as quick in the CTGT as the TTS which distorts the mind bc you’re higher up. That’s fun. The TTS was definitely quicker in a straight line but neither is that quick, really, when you have a certain other monster in the garage.

Air suspension, PDCC and RWS makes the Cayenne drive like its on rails without compromising the comfort.

Maybe so, but these will never change the laws of physics. There's no way that a Cayenne - irrespective of how capable in isolation - can corner as quickly as an outright supercar like a 911 Turbo.

Don't ask me how they do it, but I'm telling you, it does. I never fully trusted the Turbo S in the corners. I trust this. The grip is never ending.

Ya I absolutely love mine it’s almost the perfect car. Porsche killed it. Forget the 911. This is the Porsche to have. I much prefer it to my 992 turbo S.

Come again???

Sorry but is your personal problem with not feeling safe or something. Like Martin said, there is no way in hell. Ever.

Yep! Wild, right? Before I got the car, a friend, whose got everything, 918/P1/765/Huayra (and C10 on order), plus TTS and GT2RS got his. He told me he sold his TTS bc he liked it so much and anticipated I'd do the same. I thought no way. He was right. The CTGT is more fun.

Not wanting to cast doubt on your subjective sensation, but we know for a fact that the Turbo S corners much faster than the Cayenne GT. I took these minimum corner speeds from Sport Auto's Hockenheim GP laps - both driven by the same driver, with the Cayenne even having the advantage of more aggressive tires (P Zero vs P Zero Corsa):

911 Turbo SCayenne Turbo GT
139129
6758
4540
186179
7675
117115
124120
8175
9593

But you never approach max cornering on the street. The way the TTS felt near limit wasn’t fun. I had the back step out a few times it wasn’t fun.

As much as Porsche as tuned the rear engine bias out of modern 911s, it is still that and you have to drive it differently, if you want to really approach it's true limits. Trail braking and slow in-fast out is key. And when I say fast out, I mean "leap of faith" fast out.

Not judging any one's driving skill, but chances are if you have not been professionally instructed on a driving a 911 fast over multiple weeks, if not months, you are not driving it right. I would highly recommend Porsche's own many driving classes. It took me riding shotgun with one of the instructors to realize the sky high limits of a modern 911. Having said that, I am still comfortable pusing an old M3 than my GT3 despite latter having way higher limits. But now I know it is my own limits and not the car's.

At the same time the Cayenne GT is just a recalibrated Q7. The same MLB Evo with an engine in front of the front wheels, the same air suspension, the same ZF auto gearbox, the same electro steering etc.

Recalibrated Q7, urus, bentayga. Whatever. Certainly VW is exhausting that platform but they’ve done a good job at differentiating the cars. Urus feels different from Bentayga, and Cayenne TGT, etc.

I have a Rivian and a Cielo on order so this drag test is relevant for me. I love the Rivian. It will replace my cayenne TGT as my daily. The Cielo is so beautiful the 1/4 is irrelevant. But it’s nice to see the car perform well. I am curious why the MC20 is so damn heavy though.
