SCOOPS OF NEW ASTON MARTIN

This is the new Aston Martin DBS, scooped by PistonHeads. Ignore the faux DBRS9 badging, this car is destined to take over the mantle of Aston range-topper from the Vanquish.

The big coupe was spotted in a parking area close to an Autobahn in Germany where it had been undertaking some high speed testing before the model goes on sale in October of this year. Although the Vanquish line closes this summer, sources at Aston Martin are refusing to call the DBS a successor to the old flagship.

Precise details on its exact specification are still sketchy, but expect the 6.0 litre V12 to push out around 520bhp. Coupled with a weight loss of around 100kg, and the fitment of a six speed manual gearbox, the DBS is claimed to be the quickest production Aston ever.

Featuring a restyled DB9 body, and an aero kit made from carbon fibre, the DBS also sits 20mm lower than the standard DB9 and runs on new 20-inch alloys. Nevertheless, the chassis is still a variant of the VH alloy architecture that underpins both the DB9 and the V8 Vantage. As can be seen in one of the photos, carbon ceramic brake discs will be available.

Inside, there’s a host of new metals and soft materials, and a totally redesigned centre stack. We can't wait...

Looks great!

Looks very nice, I'm sure in black it would look sick!

The only thing is, it's very similar to the DB9, with extra bodykit, I wonder if consumers will see there any point to spend so much more for this car over the DB9!

My sentiments exactly; this is not a worthy successor to the Vanquish IMO.

meh looks like any other aston..

I never thought I would say this, but I'm getting bored of Aston Martins...so yes I agree with you.

The entire Aston Martin range is now looking the same. It's not like they are ugly, oh no! Is just I would like to see a little bit more differentiation from each model. They all have the same front-end and the same side profile.

That said, however, I'm truly looking forward to the Rapide.

meh looks like any other aston..
Believe me bro, I thought the same thing................until I saw it on display behind a window at Harrods last year. When I saw it my jaw dropped. It has the presence of a Lamborghini LP640 or a F430, it looked lite a britt on steroids. It is so much different than the DB9. BTW the car I saw was black.

Looks great. Having said that, it's not a car that excites me.

Here in Vancouver, I've see many DB9's and have even seen a few V8 Vantages (a dark silver one frequents near my house)

They truly are gorgeous cars, but I don't know, I don't think I'd want one :t-hands:

i know that almost everyone likes AM..but me..ive NEVER liked em..
they dont offer anything that isnt better than whats on sale by others today..
not even design..

and about the car being diffrent in real life.. im sure your right..
but for now ive seen and sat in.. Vanquish,Vantage and DB9.. and i still dont like them

This car looks awesome but I don't think this is the right replacement for the Vanquish. They need to make a Vanquish 2.

It's more of the image that comes with owning an Aston Martin - you get class, distinction and reverence - this is James Bond's car at its very best representation. If you own a Lamborghini, a Ferrari or even a Zonda, you're very likely labelled as a very fiesty young tycoon looking for attention or recognition of his new-found wealth... Many people don't want to be associated with that. I believe no brand comes as close to AM when representing the discerning gentleman.

I agree, she still has it. Gorgeous. Not sure if this really is a proper replacement for the Vanquish, but it is mighty gorgeous anyway. I can't wait to see what the next real Vanquish or whatever they call it, looks like.

I would go to maserati for that.. they are also lowkey in terms of exotics..
but they still have some cool looks..
the AM´s are all one shape

Maseratis aren't exotics. :D But yes I will agree with you they are pretty low-key as well.

I was gonna say that, anyway about the new AM sorry but the current Vanquish S looks more special and expensive than this, this is nice but looks lower class than the current flagship.

Is this the car that is supposed to have the 700hp V12 that Aston is rumored to bring on?

Much like Porsche, the AM design has very little room for innovation. Rather, continuous evolution is the order of the day.
