Gone off track off topic round 3 from the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223)

This is your own version.

My version , as an S class owner for more than 8 years straight , is that I NEVER :

1.Adjust the seat ( because it is only one )
And by the way , seat adjustment is still on the door , so why the buzz?

2.Adjust the climate . It is always on AUTO , and the same temperature ,all 4 seasons.

I hate when people complain about buttons regarding the climate , but they NEVER USE "AUTO"...Jesus , get a dial radiator on your car if you don't know how to use AUTO.

3.Lights . In the first year with my W222 I used to change the color, but now it is the same in years.

And by the way, it is a pain in the a** to change even with buttons....

Besides music , I never ever use buttons on my car.

Not even the navi, because Waze is way ,way better .

And for day to day use , huge touchscreen I see as a big advantage

For example:

1. Parking assist / cameras . Imagine having to use buttons to change the angle of the panoramic view .... No way...

2. Carplay is brilliant on that huge screen ( see Shmee's video)




EDIT: You do know that W223 has a brilliant voice assist ? You can ask everything .

Mr.AMG even told : "Hey Mercedes , my BUM is cold" . And it understood and turned the seat heating on. Brilliant !

Look! All the BMW lads reunited in the Mercedes Thread.

One of my colleagues said, the more BMW fans complain about a Mercedes, the better the product from Daimler is.

Srsly though. I don't like the design of the S-Class, I dont like the godawful taillights and I don't like this stupid Gorden Wagener. But after sitting and testing the new S Class I can wholeheartedly confrim, Mercedes has made a much bigger leap with this generation S-Class than I was thinking. Kliers post was utter nonsense regarding the infotainment system. MBUX 7 is the best infotainment system I haver ever tested. I don't need any sort of bttons anymore, since the AI voicecontrol easily outperforms my lovely Siri on my iPhone. MBUX does match any AI voicecontrol from the big tech companies with ease. By the way how often do you adjust the temperature in your car? I barely do it since every car I owned had automatic climate control.
Mercedes will roll out its L3 driving assist next year. As soon as it is allowed, the S-Class will be able to to drive up to 130 km/h on the Autobahn almost autonomous. The new super-hyper-mega iNext wont even come with this sort of driving assist and will still stick to a level 2 system as I was told from a Bimmer employee familiar with this topic. What poor.
I recently summarised my view on the current Mercedes model lineup in the 2020 SL Thread. I dont get alonge with their design philosophy. Wagener needs to be fired ASAP. However though, they are much more ahead on several key areas than their german competition. Whats coming next with the SL and EQ-range will be massive slap in the face of every Mercedes hater. Im the latter and I was truely stunned to see what's comming next

Never owned a BMW and W222 is one of my favorite cars, ever. Some of you would gain some insight from not dismissing any criticism whatsoever as "just a bmw fanboy". God forbid there could be something actually wrong with a mercedes.

Uhmmm... I don't know why you feel that much attacked and always react so tearful, ever. I mean anyone who dishes it out must also be able to take it. The only one I see non-stop shooting against the new S-Class is you. You are not holding back your critisim and even more, though, its get pretty tiresome at some point. Whenever you are feeling the heat you come up with the same sentences, that criticism isn't allowed. That's utter nonsense. This is a forum for enthusiasts. Sure does the tone get a bit rougher. But if you are so squeamished towards my opinion, you should better hold back yours.

It's you and others who are squeamish and rather blurt out "bmw fanboy" instead of engaging, simply ignoring the post, or just accepting that different people have different opinions. Observe how kiki voinea finishes his post with an injunction to "stop complaining" while in the same breath trying to insult anyone who's critical of the car by deeming them "zoomers".

Regarding your "MB fanboy-post"; yeah, sure buddy. Thats why all of the dozens dislikes I recieved came from the "Mercedes-department", because I can't stand their design and horrible marketing. I was called a "BMW-spokesperson" and "son-of-Scotty". I dont even know who "Scotty" is.

90% of the threads in the fight club section are all about you and your childish behaviour. At the top of that there are threads back in 2012 (!!!) to get you banned for primitive posts and your personal attacks towards several members. And you are calling me a kid? Hmmm, so much nastiness directed towards klier. I think it's unwarranted. klier's behaviour isn't under scrutiny here. Certainly he's not in the spotlight with the admin team for anything problematic.

So much boasting going on here. I'm this and I drive that and I'm so important and I'm so rich.

I think people need to calm down and stop personalising things. There's always going to be something about a BMW that some people don't like and there's always going to be something about a Mercedes that other people don't like. It's just a car, don't sweat the small stuff, it's not life and death.

This forum is pretty unique in that it's not brand specific (there are a few others out there) which affords a greater opportunity for this brand vs that brand debates. It's actually a privilege much less afforded on other sites. So rather, enjoy the interaction, debate with vigour (and respect!) and appreciate the diversity of opinion on this forum. Have fun, be robust in your arguments if need be but, above all else, don't be mean.

Kiki tells the truth in:
- like, i have seat adjustments on the door panels on the E class..(and its standard for the new S class) but i used them twice in 4 years...because im the only one who drives my car....the seat and memory adj are very useful when more than one people drives that car and you have multiple passengers
- on this era, i agree, climate is always on AUTO...i use the climate controls i think once or twice per year...and i am sure that many people who has the new auto climate from merc bmw etc...are in the same boat...
- ambient lighting , i dont need 64 colours i just needed 2 or 3...you are very happy with it in the first months of owning the car...after that it will stay on the last colour you chose and forget about it, maybe young people will play for a while more
The auto on digital lights on the new S class will take the same routine....we have a dial but this also could be removed IMO and enable it on the INFO
Again, after you see how the HUD is made on the new S class..you know you want that, is more useful then any other removed buttons
Again , these things are my personal view and how i drive the car in my conditions...i bet others are in different conditions

i agree that no more buttons but more screen...the quality of the interior suffers since you replace metal buttons (that also have nice feedback) with fingerprints magnets screens and besides that a lot of cars have around the screens also piano black....

Again, i understand kids fighting over bmw vs merc vs audi etc...but after decades...i can't understand why people dont realize that because we have multiple brands, we are here with better cars, is very useful for us the consumers....especially now when we have Genesis also that wants in this segment
So instead of fighting...we must embraced the competition and be glad they are not out of business. What would be a Mercedes without BMW, audi , lexus on the market for decades ?! And vice versa

I agree, as I say down here I leave my thoughts on that.
I would not call "kids" or to minimize the passionate that although they know that all these brands are great and that they improve because the others improve, they also have their favorite and it is the basis of the forum that there are these discussions about things they like or not about one or another brand and having sympathy for one of them is something that I cannot explain myself but I am grateful to have.

It all depends, Mercedes made good cars historically despite having no competition in the distant past, like Rolls Royce and others, their goal was always to make the best possible car standing out even if there was no yardstick to measure or compare them, so it was they became iconic and the competition that was emerging had in them parameters to be introduced, as it continues to happen until today with, for example, the one you mention Genesis, before Lexus, etc., but precisely what I say is that since ancient times legendary brands are legendary for having been consistent regardless of whether they had competition or not, they earned their place in each segment for setting the standard of excellence.
