S-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé Facelift (C217) 2017-

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.
Mercedes line of beautiful S class coupes starting from the amazing C126.

That has to be the most unflattering picture of a C217 I have ever seen! Looks like a beached whale…

I’ll take the most unpopular choice because it’s so rare, the C140.

M
Something about those W140/C140s… unobtainium when I was a kid. My uncle had. W140. S320 in blue with beige interiors. What a bloody car it was… forever jealous of your S500 :).

Although considered by many fans and enthusiasts alike to be the most attractive S-Class 2 door coupe/cabriolet of all time, I personally find that the C/A 217 has grown stale quickly.

Nothing more than my personal perception, of course.

It clearly depends from the configuration.

This era was one for the books. We didn’t realize how good we had it compared to most of the range now. I like the W223, but the W222/C217 were both immediately appealing and groundbreaking, whereas it took a while to adjust to the W223.

My old neighbors in 2016:

2019 - they’ve since moved, but Im sure they had the same dilemma as most repeat customers when MB abandoned the segment for the ill-fated EQ mess. The SL doesn’t fill it’s shoes.

Around my block pre-Covid. Many have since moved on up market or to 911’s, interestingly enough.

Very nice pictures (y)

I can’t think of anything upmarket.

Bentley, the continental is to cramped.
911, the 992 feels cheap compared to the predecessor.
Rolls Royce, there’s no convertible anymore, and the only coupe is a BEV.
LC500 is also to cramped.

There’s nothing comparable on the market anymore.

The 217 has left a big vacuum in the market.

I already told my dealer, that I would order one.

But: It must be available with a V8 or V12
E-ABC suspension.
No piano black plastic in the interior.

I that case I’m going to order one.

Aka a 1:1 successor to the 217 akin to this S65 below. MB’s current regime won’t listen.

Im pleasantly surprised how many i still see daily driven by original owners, meaning a number of folks did lease buyouts:
