This car can't come soon enough. The current had about 10 mins of popularity and now it just looks a mess, inside and out.

M

Infiniti touted the M is the 5er adversary, I'm curious what Infiniti has to offer compared to F10 5er.

Current Infiniti M dimensions
length: 194.1 wheelbase: 114.2 Width: 71.1 Height: 59.4

F10 dimensions
length: 190.6 wheelbase: 116.5 Width: 72.8 Height: 57.2

If Infiniti based the new M on Maxima's platform with longer wheelbase than current M, the overall dimension and profile maybe closer to the F10 5er.

The M isn't and has never been based on the FWD maxima platform. The M is based on larger/modified G/370Z platform and it would have no hopes of competing with the 5-Series on a Maxima platform.

M

Based on Infiniti's recent track record, I think we can expect the new M to be very striking. I can't wait to see what they cook up.

Using larger/modified G/370Z platform makes more sense, the dimension will be even closer to F10.

If Infiniti applies the flaming curve design as the Essence Concept, we may see some design cues from it. Attached Infiniti Essense Concept front/rear for reference.

These days, cars resemble each other in some fashion or another.

Though this is no different, something about it appeals to me.

If you distill Monterey's week-long extravaganza into a single word, it's "luxury." Sybaritic pleasures are the order du jour in and around Pebble, so Infiniti's decision to reveal the 2011 M on the Monterey Peninsula is a clear indication of the brand's interminable pursuit of recognition and respect in the world of up-market automobiles.

Infiniti is well aware that becoming a major player in the segment doesn't begin and end with creating a dynamically engaging and aesthetically pleasing entry-level luxury sedan and coupe. It's got to go big – or at least bigger – filling a niche that falls somewhere between the BMW 5 Series/Mercedes-Benz E-Class and 7 Series/S-Class.

Taking all the right cues from the Essence concept, the all-new M successfully distills the organic shapes and angular creases of its conceptual forbearer into a traditional sports sedan shape. The front fascia's engorged maw blends well with the aggressive headlamps and curvaceous lower valence, and while things are somewhat subdued in profile, the real action starts with the shapely swage line beginning in the middle of the rear door and sweeping back into the Jaguar-esque tail lamps and pinched rump. The exterior's sinuous lines carry over to the inside, with a duo of convex interior compartments accentuated by a smattering of wood and aluminum.

We're hoping to snag more details when we take a look at Infiniti's "virtual M" tonight, where the automaker is employing a bespoke "video mapping" system to display the M's details and colors onto a full-scale model of the sedan. Infiniti's third-generation flagship is set to go on sale in 32 markets in the spring of 2010 and will be available in either V6 M37 trim or a 400-hp V8-powered M56 variant. PRESS RELEASE

2011 Infiniti M Makes Virtual Debut at Concours d'Elegance

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (Aug. 14, 2009) – Infiniti today provided an advanced look at the all-new 2011 Infiniti M performance luxury sedan at the 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This is the third generation of Infiniti's popular M and the first to be sold across all of Infiniti's 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe. Like the current Infiniti M, the next-generation design will be offered with V8 and V6 engines. The 2011 M models will be designated the Infiniti M56 and Infiniti M37 respectively, reflecting their more powerful, larger displacement engines. The M56 V8 is expected to offer more than 400 horsepower. For Western Europe, the M56 will be replaced by a V6 performance diesel.

The 2011 Infiniti M also features a completely redesigned body, with authentic sports sedan proportions and evocative new styling with a low front end and deeply sculpted fenders inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. The new M interior promises to be pure Infiniti, highlighted by the use of innovative materials, an advanced climate control system, superior audio and an enhanced quality feel. Despite improved performance from the new engine lineup, fuel consumption will be reduced. In addition, the 2011 M will continue Infiniti's technology innovation leadership with a blind spot intervention system. This industry-first system is designed to help alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in an adjacent lane during an intended lane change, and then help assist the driver in returning the vehicle toward the center of the original lane of travel.

The 2011 Infiniti M, which is scheduled to go on sale across the world starting from spring 2010, was revealed through a unique "video mapping" process – in which a "virtual M" was created on a 3D form. It is the world's first "virtual only" (no physical vehicle) automotive application of this cutting-edge technology. The 2011 Infiniti M will make its official public debut later this year.

Ok. Now you've done right by us. :)

Yea, In was trying to get everything together. I was watching the video and checking all the websites at once trying to get the new photos. :D

The exterior design is a very nice evolutionary update to the original with fresh features that don't completely forsake the second generation M. Consistency abounds in how curvature was used to shape the detailing of various external parts.

However, at least upon the one and only initial photo the interior is where things begin to fall apart, in a very big way. The swirly theme of the exterior plays excessively with the upper end of the door panels and the seams in the front seats that veer towards the center console. Very odd and I'm not sure how well this will work overtime. After examining the interior shots one can say that there's truly something to be said for an interior design that exudes simplicity and understatement, such as what one would find in the cabin of any Audi. Aside from the swirly nature of the cabin design much of the switchgear looks like it has been taken from the Nissan corporate parts bin and thrown in in an effort to save money rather than taking a step in the right direction outfitting the car with fresh high quality designs and materials. I'm sure I'll be seeing the car in L.A. in Nov/Dec so perhaps I'll have something different to say then. Or not.

2011 Infiniti M Revealed

Leftlanenews:
The redesigned model is expected to go on sale in spring 2010 in two flavors: the six-cylinder M37, and the eight-cylinder M56. This third-generation M will be the first to be sold across all of Infiniti’s 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe.
Although final specs have not been disclosed, the M56 is expected to offer more than 400 horsepower. Meanwhile, the M37 will likely have a similar horsepower figure to the G37, which delivers 330 horsepower. espite improved performance from the new engine lineup, fuel consumption will be reduced, Infiniti says.
The exterior has a new look with a low front end and deeply sculpted fenders inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. The interior is highlighted by better materials, an advanced climate control system, and superior audio.

Motortrend:
The annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California has been turning into a launch-platform for high-end vehicles in recent years and this time around, Infiniti chose the famous event to launch the next-generation of its mid-level M sedan. But with just one catch: the car wasn't actually at Pebble Beach.

Because a show car wasn't ready in time but the show had to go on, the technophiles at the Japanese luxury brand came up with an ingenious and high-tech solution that enabled a "virtual launch," if you will, that may well end up being more fascinating than the car itself. A video image of the M will be projected onto a foam model, creating a 3-D virtual replica that, when paired with a moving background, will even look like its moving thanks animated projected wheels. Executive Editor Matt Stone, who is in attendance at this virtual launch, will have more on the festivities later. As for the car itself, it sports sleek sheetmetal derived from the Essence concept and bears a resemblance to the FX crossover. Two variants will be offered, the M37, powered by a 3.7-liter V-6, and the M56, which will be powered by a 5.6-liter V-8, the latter making over 400 horsepower. In more fuel-conscious Europe, the V-8's place will be taken by a performance-oriented diesel V-6. Additionally, the 2011 M will be offered with a new blind spot intervention system, which will help a driver make evasive maneuvers if it detects a vehicle in the next lane during a lane change. The real car will make its debut later this year at an unspecified auto show before going on sale in the spring of 2010.

Yes, Infiniti did the same thing that they did with the G35 to G37. Makes sense considering their designs have been key in their success. The overall design is good and the interior seems classy. Guess when we see the live photos we can get a better idea.

Dangit! Is the G and FX the only thing Infiniti can get on the nose?

It looks good - but the "bite" that would plant Infiniti's roots in the ground are missing here. Call it a... lack of conviction in the details. If there was the same amount of devil-may-care follow-through as we saw in the FX I think we'd have a new dog in the midsize luxury race.

I could be wrong here, but I see this a B+ contender in this segment, simply due to styling.
