Interior could use a bigger update it's showing its age.
The exterior though is as good as always. Didn't age a day and looks better than most other SUVs out there.

Volvo plan to sell mild and plugin hybrids beyond 2030. I expect the XC90 lineup of engines to be updates in the next 2-3 years.

They are going to have to do it themselves though. Geely can't for the life of them make a decent engine. The Chinese can only make EVs

The only major weekness is keeping the same 2.0 inline 4 across the range and not increasing the battery size of the Hybrid version as it still has a louzy range and should be over 100km.

Agree, a 2025 hybrid with less than 100km in these days is pointless. People want hybrids because high efficiency EV like driving experience, running a poor engine too often ruins the experience.

They could borrow and I6 from Mercedes easily. Making it fit into this architecture not so much.

I like Volvo a lot, clean design, quality interior. They need better engines though.

They just need to go out and buy BMW or Merc's inline 6s and V8s. Something like the XC90 needs a V8.

I dont like my merc with the portrait central display, but this is even worse
I hope everybody who mades 2 digital displays to make them like the old S class, or like the new Audi A5/a6, dual one glass digital landscape displays

In the Volvo xc90 the screen resemble an aftermarket aliexpress one.

I had the opportunity to sit in one lately.

First of all, the 3. Row is really cramped, but the interior quality is way better than in the GLS.

The wood,the leather and the Alcantara headliner feel very luxurious, but it still costs 35% less than a German competitor.

I like it, but they should offer a 5 seater, with a big trunk.

The EX90 feels way cheaper.

Exactly. However on the Audi you can order a 5 seater, which you can’t at the Volvo.

A GLS will run this antique off the road. Other than the perceived safety and the stupidly comfortable seats, the car is outclassed. A 4-cylinder only lineup in this class is a joke.

I haven’t driven it yet. Regarding the engines I agree, however the T8 should be powerful enough.
I’d have preferred a I5 or I6 like on the predecessor.


They put all the cards on the rubbish EX90, which is quality wise 2 steps backwards.

The GLS is very strange, with Airmatic it drives like a drunken sailor, with E-ABC it’s the most comfortable SUV on the market. Even better than a Bentley Bentayga.

There one big reason why people, in Europe, buy the XC90 over the GLS.

Space. The GLS is huge, doesn't fit in many parking spaces or is cumbersome to steer on tight roads and cramped spaces. In the USA, Middle East and China. This is not an issue.

However. I agree about the perceived safety of Volvo. It's incredible how long that reputation has endured and funnels customers to the brand.

It’s about 25cm or 10 inches shorter, and it’s under 200 inches long, in Europe 5m is the critical limit regarding car length.

Regarding safety, they’re still very good.

But I think Mercedes Benz is even better.

The ultimate problem with the XC90 is the powertrain. Against the X7 M60 and GLS 580, it just feels lacking. Even compared to the 6 cylinder versions.
