This video sums up why someone buys a DB12 instead of a 296 or Hurecan. It's exciting to drive but yet can behave well enough to allow you hang out and chat in the car without worrying about gear changes or chassis modes.

What was the best looking car you can buy is now a runner up to it's own roommate, the Vanquish.

I feel that the Vanquish's Kamm tail addresses what a design weakness for the DB11/12. Those DB rear ends look like they have not thought through completion.

I just subscribed to Cars with Miles. He’s awesome and I like that if a car sucks of he’s unimpressed by it, he gets straight into it. No jizzing in his pants, wax lyrically with poetry and adjectives in fear of not getting invited to a champagne reception.

Geez, only wired CarPlay, no wireless option going into 2025 for a $315k car. That’s not luxury. How do you spend a fortune on overhauling the interior but fail to get wireless CarPlay to work?

Yeah how could they miss that on a brand new interior. That said no one buying this car will give a shit about it. Nothing could be more irrelevant.

Not true. Tech has historically been a big pain point. Stroll even said that he was embarassed that they sell $1m+ hypercars alongside GTs with infotainments that are embarrassing. There is a limited number of people who want to spend $100-150k over an SL/AMG-GT for a remap, nice leather and heritage.

Aston Martin only sold 6,600 cars in FY2023. Even the DBX which is of a popular body shape isn't a runaway success accounting for only 2,393 cars.

Die hard aston fans or prospective customers of limited edition models won't care about quirks, but prospectives who don't want to role play as James Bond are less forgiving. The poor fit of some of the panels shown in the video are unacceptable.

Absolutely true. No one is not buying a DB12 because the CarPlay is wired. They’ve already brought the car into the modern era. All of that you posted about tech is about the previous setup. Quoting the sales numbers don’t prove anything without context as to why they sold in those numbers. No one wanting a DB12 is going to pass because or CarPlay. Now the old Astons with the outdated interiors I could see that happening but not with a new DB12.

If you charge top money, your product needs to be top notch. Zero interest period is over and as a result mediocrity doesn't cut it. The Italian equivalent of Aston Martin is Maserati. Their sales are 50% compared with 2023. Heritage and fancy leather doesn't cut it if your products are priced 30-50% than rivals but with inconsistent build quality and imperfect tech.

The Urus is a great example of what success looks like. It's the best handling SUV but is also comfortable and has tech that makes it a great car to spend time in. That's why 6,070 were sold in 2023. Aston needs to ace at least one category whether that's design, comfort, speed, emotion or quality.

Ranting aside, a low mileage DB12 is compelling alternative to the SL and AMG GT which have jumped in price compared with their precedessors.

None of this was being disputed. What I said was was that no one is walking away from a DB12 over CarPlay. It’s irrelevant in a new DB12. Honestly not sure what this long post was for or what you’re even arguing at this point. We all know this. The DB12 is not the Aston of old so again, you aren’t telling me anything here. Sales numbers can say whatever you want them to say in any way you want spin them. Maserati has a myriad of issues.

I haven't read the context of your guys discussion, But lack of Adroid Auto/Carplay would be a big deal for me. You may think I'm mad, but why should I pay a fortune for a disposable luxury item that lacks some pretty basic functionality which has become a part of everyday life. It's not like these Aston's are collector vehicles. They are high end, highly depreciating luxury vehicles that should be offering the latest in terms of luxury and technology. Especially if they are all targeting younger clientelle.

The same would be the case if they lacked things like radar cruise, blind spot assistance etc. It took Porsche and the Italians a number of years to get on board with the need to offer these features on their vehicles, even if they are optional. The new 12 Cilindris will all come with high end Burmester systems and Carplay/Adroid Auto as standard.
